Why am I one of the few people that realizes that life is slavery if you make below a certain amount? Not to mention, being bombarded by consumerism, you feel that you have to buy the newest fashions, care what movie stars think, and stay "in style." Everything is made so cheap nowadays, and people are nothing more than drones. Houses and cars are slapped together, worth a fraction of what they sell for, and yet people continue to buy way more than they can afford. The average person is in so much debt today, and yet they continue to consume garbage at a ridiculous pace. I am wondering how long capitalism can continue at this pace before it is crushed under its own weight, and the poor pick up rifles and just take what they need to survive. People need to wake up.

My thinly veiled question "Why is there no mention of the word 'Religion' in the Bible?" attracted varied answers, the result being not unexpected. Part of the point of this debate was to allow the community to choose the answer. That result is interesting. Check it out.

What word or words in Arabic would be used in describing the "gods" of Greek mythology and/or objects of false worship?
Is there a true generic word in Arabic that matches the English word god or God?

Language and semantic experts or objective translators only.
Or others with good source material for transliteration o.k. too! Thank you very much.

It's interesting to see so many views people have on topics like this. I was just wondering what everyone else feels the similarities or differences are between religion, faith, and belief.

I was kind of thinking "religion" is how you practice your "belief," and "faith" is at what level your "belief" is.

If god created humans, he must've already been a human. Doesnt that mean he was created after us? I'm not sure..

If so, then god must'nt be a human. He could look like one, but he may have some things that humans do not have, like wings, or so.

He is pictured as a wise man in movies, but is he truely, "man"?

State your theory

a serious way to stop the spread of islam in america needs to be found if america continues this appeasement of islam it will surely end much like the appeasement of hitler. Any ideas?
Please bare in mind that I am not anti-arab, or middle eastern. This pertains to only the religion not the race of the people that follow it.

A Christian is a person who believes that Christ died for their sins and therefor they will go to Heaven. Why do some Christians condemn other Christians because of the way they pray, worship, or some other minor difference? If a person believes that Christ died for their sins then isn't it true that that person will be forgiven and go to Heaven even if they make mistakes in the way they pray or worship? Jesus said that no one iJesus told people to take the plank out of your own eye before taking the speck out of your neighbors eye. When Christians attack other Christians aren't they just picking at specks and ignoring their own glaring sins? Later, in the New Testament there is a passage about not getting into to endless arguments about geneologies and other trivial matters. When Christians attack other Christians aren't they just starting endless arguments about trivial matters?
Did Christ die for the sins of everyone who believes in Him or just for a select few judgemental souls?

Humanity is very diverse and so is our culture. I perceive 2 distinct points of view being represented in most of these Spiritual discussions : One group thinks the behaviors prescribed or prohibited in the Bible should be the moral standard our society as a whole should live by. For them, if the Bible prohibits a behavior, then that act is certainly immoral and should be illegal. They need no other arguments to justify their position. The other group thinks that individuals in our society should be allowed to follow their own moral guidelines. The second group doesn't have the same heartfelt religious beliefs concerning the Bible so they require secular arguments to convince them a behavior or act should be considered immoral and illegal. Bible based arguments do not satisfy these people because their religious or secular beliefs on morality are not represented in the Bible. THE QUESTION: Do you see this statement as a falsehood with flawed logic or as an epiphany? Thanks in advance.

I am an American. I love my country and realize this question may raise some eyebrows, but I was wondering....
When the tsunami hit, Americans all over broke out their wallets to give aid, when Katrina hit, we did it again, when 9/11 happened, we all watched in awestruck horror until the buildings collapsed and then continued watching, tears and pain, and gave time and money to the cause. We raised our voices as one for justice at the government.
Now, almost four years later from 9/11, almost two years for Katrina and how many still give? How many give no matter if there is a catastrophe or not? Or are we only awakened from our day to day lives when something tragic happens and catches our attention?

So, I pose the question. Are we too self centered? Thinking only of what we want and need from one day to the next, without a second thought for our fellow men, women and children around us. Never thinking about anyone else's needs other than our own.
Unless there is tragedy.
