Hey Jesus! Word to your mother!
I think we have to agree that our fan club is against death for blastocysts for embryonic cell research, but when you can feel superior and all VENGENCE like, while executing retarded citizens, as our #1 fan George Bush would say, and I quote, "Yeeee-HAW!"

No, if you are against the death penalty and your son, daughter, father, mother, etc was killed by sick, evil person, and without a shadow of doubt you knew that person was guilty I'm betting you would not be against it then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the new testament it is written to live peaceably among men as much as it be within you and that we sin every day. We are suppose to strive to be humble, foregiving, loving, etc but we do fall short at times, was it not God whom said not to cry when someone dies but rejoice, but when Jesus walked the earth, and someone that was dear to him died, he wept!! Man has a powerful and spiritual soul. That is why Lucifer, the most beautiful angel, was so jealous and cast out from heaven. Only through Christ's blood may we be forgiven, repent so that you may be forgiven for your daily sins. Human emotion is a strong force and sometimes why we sin. Justice is justice and we all will be judged before God someday.
Based from this question, Would it be hypocritical for a Christian to kill a person whom breaks into their home to protect their family, or fight in the military to protect their country and familiy??? Live peaceably among men as much as it be within you.
In the old testament, the jews (Gods Chosen People) where to live by the old law and other races where considered dogs, but Jesus died for all of man's sins and the old law was needed no more, there are still great lessons in the old testment but we no longer have to sacrifice lambs etc, for forgiveness because Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. We all sin and there are very few men whom could be as perfect as Job, When I read the book of Job I see just how weak I am.

Another critical nit-picking ignoramus. If you would have ever checked a Bible, you would know that more crimes were punishable by death according to the Bible than the number of the capital crimes recognized and enforced by death today in the civilized world...even when you include the harsh Arabian/Middle East countries today (but most of those countries are hardly civilized. No, it is NOT hypocritical, it is in line with the Biblical concepts. Papaw

In many ways, yes! It is our belief that God (and ONLY God) has the right to take life. He is, afterall, our final Judge and Jury, as it were.
And the eye for an eye thing ... this is Old Testiment. Before Jesus gave up His life to save believers. The New Testiment (IMHO) counterceeds the Old Testiment. Jesus came here to lead the way. He was (Is) the light to lead us home. The OT gives us the basics. The NT shows how it's done!
However, as human beings, we often take a different road (We meaning everyone on this planet). We want to exact punishment on wrongdoers now! Just as was done with Sadham!
This does not make it right!
Your position is correct in many ways. Cannot tell you more than this though.

As Jesus hung on a cross next to those being punished by death, did He preach this was wrong? Did He even rescue the repentant theif? Since there was a WHOLE lot of death penalty going on, the only one He saved from it was the woman caught in adultery. Seems He didnt think that was something we should punish by death. But He didnt save the other convincts.

Not really, we all strive to be like Jesus but some of us have a long way to go. Personally I would change my mind about the death penalty IF there was a way to hold those responsible for releasing criminals back on to the streets with the subsequent crimes they do. Then again if there was consequences they wouldn't let them go would they?

What about thou shalt not kill for the killer on death row who killed people? if it is a law that says for punishment for heinous acts you will die, then know that the law must be upheld. The book of 2nd Peter says that we should follow every ordinace of law, and that lawmakers in government should be respected and feared by those who are lawbreakers. I have struggled with it for many years and the older I get the more I realize that sometimes it becomes a hard decision for the people who have to do it. It is not easy, but it should be held up as law as long as it speaks to the safety of our society. even Hindus believe in karma and wouldn't this be karmic retribution? Why don't you go ask murderers why they killed the people they did?

No it's not. In fact, God imposed a death penalty on anyone causing a pregnant woman to miscarry.

Of course not. It clearly states in the bible AN EYE FOR AN EYE. Most people in general are against the death penalty but christians can be for or against and not go against our faith.

Yes it is hypocritical. The Bible has hundreds of pages of all sorts of stuff, however Jesus himself should override that and I don't think anything he said supports state sanctioned murder. Worse than that JESUS HIMSELF FELL VICTIM TO THE DEATH PENALTY.

It seems to be consistent, Christians should oppose the death penalty and abortion-- and war too--and be completely pro-life.
