I have an imaginary God, and I am perfectly content with the one I got; but recently some church people were energetically cajoling me and asserting that their God is real.

When I informed them that I have an imaginary God they said "Why have an imaginary one when you can have a real one?"

But this begs the question, just thinking your God is real doesn't make it real; and why can't you be just as happy if you acknowledge that yours may possibly be imaginary like mine? Why can't we all be reasonable? Then again -- I would be amenable to looking at some of their scientific evidence, if they have some, showing that their God is indeed real.

I think we call all get along.

that his destiny is to be left behind and become either one of the 144,000, or a martyr? He also has fallen away from church and has become very busy in his life. He believes that Jesus is His Savior but is not really walking in the Christian walk. I have tried to speak to him but he seems convinced that he's destined to tough it out in the tribulation. All I can do is pray. Is it perhaps he feels guilt, or not fully convinced that Jesus fully loves him, or that God is looking down on him. I have pondered with the reasons why he should believe what he does. It makes no sense to me. Any helpful opinions out there?

Religious beliefs and practices of the Jews. One of the three great monotheistic world religions, Judaism began as the faith of the ancient Hebrews, and its sacred text is the Hebrew Bible, particularly the Torah. Fundamental to Judaism is the belief that the people of Israel are God's chosen people, who must serve as a light for other nations. God made a covenant first with Abraham and then renewed it with Isaac, Jacob, and Moses. The worship of Yahweh (God) was centred in Jerusalem from the time of David. The destruction of the First Temple of Jerusalem by the Babylonians (586 BCE) and the subsequent exile of the Jews led to hopes for national restoration under the leadership of a messiah. The Jews were later allowed to return by the Persians, but an unsuccessful rebellion against Roman rule led to the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE and the Jews' dispersal throughout the world in the Jewish Diaspora. Rabbinic Judaism emerged to replace the beliefs and practices associated with the Temple at Jerusalem, as the Jews carried on their culture and religion through a tradition of scholarship and strict observance. The great body of oral law and commentaries were committed to writing in the Talmud and Mishna. The religion was maintained despite severe persecutions by many nations. Two branches of Judaism emerged in the Middle Ages: the Sephardic, centred in Spain and culturally linked with the Babylonian Jews; and the Ashkenazic, centred in France and Germany and linked with the Jewish culture of Palestine and Rome. Elements of mysticism also appeared, notably the esoteric writings of the Kabbala and, in the 18th century, the movement known as Hasidism. The 18th century was also the time of the Jewish Enlightenment (Haskala). Conservative and Reform Judaism emerged in 19th-century Germany as an effort to modify the strictness of Orthodox Judaism. By the end of the 19th century Zionism had appeared as an outgrowth of reform. European Judaism suffered terribly during the Holocaust, when millions were put to death by the Nazis, and the rising flow of Jewish emigrants to Palestine led to the declaration of the State of Israel in 1948. In the early 21st century there were nearly 15 million Jews worldwide.

Jesus says that those who are His friends will never see death. This means that people who die in Christ are more alive in Heaven right now as we speak than you and I are here in this world.

Also, why don't Protestants think that God can provide a way for the Saints to hear our prayers and to pray to God on our behalf? We see that in the book of Revelation, the Saints are doing exactly that. And it says in the Bible "I can do ALL THINGS through Christ that strengthens me." Philipians 4:13

As far as mediating between God and man. The Catholic faith has always taught that Jesus is the one mediator but we can share in this mediation THROUGH Jesus because the Church is the body of Christ. This is why Jesus tells us to pray for each other. And we see that Paul often asked for the prayers of the Saints.

Do people think it would be right in a family if we only talked to our father and never talked to our mother or our brothers and sisters?

switch it on and leave them in there (assume they aren't ever going to die, just be in great pain for all eternity). Would them not believing in you be enough?

If I had kids, I would never put them in an oven, no matter what they did to me.

Why would god [assume he exists for the moment]?

I am gay but I have long thought that homosexuality is wrong because it is sex just for the physical and emotional feeling... that the physical nature of it is base and that emotional companionship is available via safer, more virtuous (I'm Catholic, too, by the way) means.

However, I have a hard time seeing why God would even care if I love a woman and want to marry her. I mean, He made me this way, so I don't see why it should really be a problem so long as I am chaste and exhibit virtue and love for Him and all His creation.

The thing that hurts and really bothers me is that although I'm celibate, if I were to enter into a relationship, it would cut me off from the Most Holy Sacraments, which I love dearly and I find tremendously important. I do not see why, if I have a girlfriend and am indeed much more chaste than my straight friends, I am a mortal sinner and cannot recieve the Blessed Sacraments. What has companionship with a lovely lady to do with the Eucharist?

I am wondering the proper way to state that the birthday is a surprise. I don't want to put Shh... it's a surprise. Would you write:

Mrs. Jane Doe requests the pleasure of your company at a surprise party in honor of Mrs. Jane Smith's birthday.

I am going for formal, so the wording has to be right, but I'm not sure how is should be. Thanks!

It just seems to me that he is against homosexuality, but does that mean they can't go to heaven? I mean, premarital sex is supposed to be a mortal sin so that means that like 90% of the world will never get into heaven. But people dog on gays more than ho-ey people. Don't you think as long as you believe in God you can go to heaven? That's what forgiveness is for. Forgiving homosexuality, promiscuity, gluttony, selfishness, lying, stealing, cheating- all those things? someone back me up here

To many it seems like it does not matter what you believe. The Bible does not teach that at all. Is it just something people want to think to make them feel good?

Because God has only one son. So its not like he can send sons out to all the planets out there. And if he did, does that mean Jesus got crucified by jews on all those planets? Or do Jews even exist on other planets?

Before you start asking, science predicts that there are at least ten other planets in our solar system capable of sustaining life. so common sense tells me that there's at least 1 other peep out there in the universe. and yes I am a Christian, I just have lots of unanswered questions.
