I've seen alot of people complaining about Christian symbols in America, especially during the Christmas season. But what about Christians?
See what is standing at the center of Birmingham, Alabama.
http://www.bcvb.org/ttd-attractions-deta...
A statue of a Roman god...in the middle of a major city in Alabama, of all places?
Alabama?
Wouldn't you think those bigoted Christians down there would complain? I mean, it's a Roman god, for goodness sake! Wouldn't they be hollering about the "blasphemy"?????
And yet, there has not been ONE SINGLE Christian who has complained about this statue...
Could it be that these Christians are actually more tolerant than the people who keep attacking them?
Comments?

Why did he create us with the ability to lie, cheat, decieve, lie, kill, hate, etc. Why did he allow his creations the ability to go against his will. Why did make adam and eve so different than him? I don't understand why he Made Adam and Eve. And make them with the ability to commit sin. If God would have made us in his own image then it would have been impossible for Adam and Eve to commit sin. But he didn't. Why did God create us so imperfect? Or did he truely create us in his own image which means God can also lie and decieve. So God Created us Imperfect or as his own image. Which is it. If he created us imperfect which we are then that is cruel. If he created us like him then why is he so mad that we sin, because we are like him imperfect. Why create a imperfect being expecting them to be better than you. That is cruel. For a God to create a being saying be perfect or you will burn for ever, when in fact he can't even be perfect to me is crazy.

I would prefer answers only from Catholics (especially Roman Catholics). The basis of the question is; Does one have to either be a member of the Catholic Church or follow the riules of the Catholic Church to be saved? If so - please provide some sources.

and give it to a child raised in total seclusion, they are going to learn and believe all the biblical words and lessons, but when they go out into the world to discuss their religion, people will think they are absolutely insane.

Perhaps this gives an insight into how atheists view Christians?

(yes, I know it's a sick question. Thank you.)

so strict with their members? Why enforse such harsh rules than banish someone from the chruch entirely when he/she cannot conform to such strict regulations? For example, marriage. If you get divorced you are excommunicated. If God can forgive our sins if we ask for forgivness, than why can't the Catholic Chruch?

I read somewhere that a boy was killed by men of the law because he was gay. I thought that was pretty harsh. I don't know what country it was in though. I wish the whole world would just accept homosexuality, but I don't know if that will happen.

Where in the bible does it say to worship Mary (Jesus' mother)? Also, where does it say to pray to her, or to pray to saints. Aren't they all dead?

Sometimes I say something like, "she should calm down or she's going to have a stroke". Or, "maybe he crashed on the way there".
People act shocked and say, "don't say that, that's terrible". What's the big deal, it's not like saying something is gonna' make it happen.

I just found out my sister-in-law, (husband's brother's wife) who is "making" Christmas Eve dinner, (and who I've seen "helping" at my inlaws' without washing her paws) is serving the leftover ham and turky from HER families' dinner. My mother in law left a message that we're supposed to bring a lettuce salad only. Now I'm sorry. If I want to be served Christmas leftovers, I'll show up on the 26th, not the 24th! I want to bring fresh food. Am I the one who's unreasonable?

My husbands family is super fundementalist Christians. Although I respect and admire Jesus' historic teachings, I don't take all of the bible as fact, especially when there are many gospels that the Catholic Church didn't allow into the bible that I enjoy more than the ones that did.

I love Jesus, but also Ghandi. I admire peaceful people who preach love over judgement and who aren't afraid to go their own way and stand up for what's right.

I also smoke cannabis, for medical and spiritual reasons.
They both have a big problem with that, even though I've been doing it for a long time and am very healthy and a straight A student (notice how I'm used to defending myself)
My brother in law thinks people who say they use cannabis medically are making up excuses to use it.

My mother in law thinks I'm deluded and will eventually realize the "truth" that Jesus is the only savior and the son of God.
I feel offended as I respect their beliefs, but they do not respect mine. What can I do?

Long story short. Guy friend who I'm worried about. He's Catholic, says he believes and Jesus Christ and God. Prays through Mary [if that is the right way to say it]. Believes in the Bible – but doesn’t always obey. He does Marijuana, cigarettes and alcohol. I still care about him and pray for him every night, but I'm a Pentecostal Christian. On his Christmas card, I want to write, "You don’t deserve what you are doing to yourself. ______ loves you.” I don’t know weather to put “God” or “Jesus” there. Which one is more appropriate? Does it really matter? HELP!

It really annoys me when people refer to 'black' and 'white' as races. There are so many races in the world, some of whom are white, some black, some brown, etc... I am Irish. My race is Irish/Celtic. I am a completely different race from the English, Polish, the French, etc etc, even though we are all 'white'. Similarly there are many different races with dark skin. When people refer to 'racist' crimes they are really talking about 'colourist' crimes - where people attack others because of the colour of their skin. They have no idea what race they are.

...I have a strong inclination to accept the divinity as a duality of the masculine and feminine, why? I've been doing a lot of reading and I can't come to terms with the inherent subordination of women in the Catholic (or Christian) churches, nor can I reconcile that God made us in "His" image when creative power is shared upon by male-female interaction. What do you all think?
