Jesus and the disciples never practiced this. Where and how did it start?

This is one of the doctrines that Pentacostals have added to the Bible as they have gotten into more and more bizzare practices in the last century. It is not in the Bible so that is why you can't find it. Once you start to write your own doctrine there is no stopping it.

To refresh your memory...you asked the same question 4 weeks ago... And you thought it was pretty silly. So why are you asking again? To see how many people will talk bad about the things of God?
Maybe you should read about David's wife...after she made fun of her husband.
Or Moses's sister...
Just remember, God does not sleep. You called yourself a Jesus Freak. You need to spend some time in His presence and let Him change your heart. I am sure if you were honest with yourself and God, you would find there are some things you do that are not pleasing to Him. I have things that I need to let God help me with too. But encouraging others to mock the things of God just because you don't understand, I think this is dangerous territory.

Copied from your questions...

Could someone please tell me what being "slain in the spirit" is really all about?

Being "slain in the Spirit' is mostly a Pentecostal church experience, although some "Charismatic churches" allow this also along with 'dancing in the Spirit', 'singing in the Spirit', 'tongues' and 'prophecy'.
These experiences are not allowed by "Mainline Denominational churches". The main belief amongst Pentecostals is 'being slain in the Spirit' is an event that takes place when the the Spirit of God is felt so strongly that one can no longer stand in the presence of God. In most experiences between God and man, especially in the Old Testament, the person having such an encounter would "fall down as one dead", or fall prostrate unable to stand in the Glory of God. In the book of Acts in the New Testament it says that while they (the disciples and other believers) were assembled, the Holy Spirit came upon them as a mighty rushing wind and there were 'signs and miracles' manifested. Mainline Denominational churches would say that that was a special dispensation only for that time and not revelant nor applicable today. Pentecostal churches would say that 'being slain in the Spirit is one of the evidences of the power of God being present and relevant today. The people that Jesus healed or delivered from evil spirits would often cast themselves down as one dead. This also might have relevance to Pentecostals as 'being slain in the Spirit' often happens when people have come forward for prayer to be healed of sickness and oppression. Whether every event of being slain in the Spirit is real or not, I cannot say for certain--people have many motives, some preachers may have motives--but I do not think this discounts the whole process or nullifies the experience as a whole as some people feel genuinely touched by the LORD, and others are healed by God. Again, this experience is generally referred to as Jesus manifesting himself through His Spirit as exemplified in the book of Acts, and many Pentecostals and Charismatics would say this is a sign that we are actually living in the Last Days when "God's Spirit shall be poured out upon all flesh."

I think it's pretty silly...you never see Jesus knocking anyone over, or Peter standing behind anyone to catch them as they fall, or John standing by with blankets to throw over them to protect their modesty. You do see people purposely "falling on their faces" in conscious worship, though. Hmmm....

It just means being overcome by the Holy Spirit. Read about the day of Pentecost in Acts, Chapter 1.

the Charismatic circles of Christian Churches to designate a supposed movement of the Holy Spirit upon a person. The claim is that the Holy Spirit moves with such power on a person, that the person is "slain." This does not mean the person dies, but that he/she is so overcome by the presence of the Spirit that he/she falls down to the ground

Why be full of and walk in the Spirit? So you can be called "Sons of God". It's about God giving you a praise. It's about sanctifying one's life. It's about having boldness to witness.
Numbers 11:25 when Moses and the 70 elders in Israel prophesied when the Spirit of the Lord came upon them
Ezekiel 37:4 When Ezekiel prophesied to the dead bones and they, through the Spirit of God came back to life. Jesus is the resurrection and the life.
1 Samuel 19:20 Saul's messengers prophesied when the Spirit came upon them
Judges 14:6 when Sampson killed a lion with his bare hands.
Luke 2:25-31 when Simeon full of the Holy Ghost had it revealed to him he should not die until he had seen the Messiah and he saw him in the temple.
Luke 1 when Zecharias' saw the angel of the Lord, he was struck dumb until his son was born and named and then he prophesied.
Luke 1:41when Elisabeth, mother of John the Babtist and cousin to Mary mother of Jesus heard Mary's salutatio Elisabeth's baby leaped in her womb. She and her baby were filled with the Holy Ghost and she prophesied.
Luke 1:67 Zecharias was filled with the Holy Ghost
Matthew 1:20 angel of the Lord spoke to Joseph to tell him Mary was a virgin and the child was conceived by the Holy Ghost.
Acts 2:15 When the Holy Ghost fell they were drunk in the spirit and that's why it says these people aren't drunk with wine like folks thought because it wasn't a familiar sight to them in general.
Acts 7:55 When Stephen, full of the Holy Ghost was being gnashed on with people's teeth then stoned to death was able to forgive his murderers then fall asleep (died) peacefully. I don't think he felt a thing!
Revelations 1:10 when John the Revelator was in the spirit on the Lord's day
There are different manifestations of the Holy Ghost. It is all through the Bible. Christ means annointed one. Jesus certainly practiced it. John babtized Him and the spirit visibly appeared upon Him and God audibly spoke. The water, the blood, the spirit, the Word, they all agree. Jesus told His disciples to tarry at Jerusalem until they were indued with power from on high. The manifestation of speaking in other tongues and prophesying is nothing new throughout the whole Bible. The best part is you don't have to go through a Levitical priest with tithes to approach the presence of God and have your sins atoned but you can pray to Jesus our High Priest. Beware though because the devil imitates both salvation and the Holy Ghost but he can't imitate a sanctified separated life. The real Holy Ghost bears fruits of love, joy, peace, gentleness, longsuffering, etc. It reaveals, convicts and reproves of sin and draws men to Christ and it's the real Spirit of God that if one blasphemes the Holy Ghost, they will not be forgiven.

It is a fairy-tale theory that is being taught by those who are really "SLAINED" in the spirit!

Another words they are so spiritually dead- they need to ask God for forgiveness for trying to teach non-sense as doctrine! And then start learning TRUE biblical doctrine!

it definiely isn't biblical. it is a charismatic/pentecostal perversion of scripture. it is from the book of acts in the story of ananias & sapphira. they were slained by the spirit. not in the spirit. if it's not from God then who else could it be from? the just are to walk by faith, and not by sight. meaning we walk by the light that the bible gives us step by step. and not from what our senses tell us. the senses can be deceived. people are looking for signs and wonders, satan will oblige them in the last days.

Playactors on stage called a revival or heeling crusade.

This really bothers me because some are good teachers of God's Word. Then to put on a show like that, it's blasphemy.

They are playing church yet they love God.

Please explain that to me because I don't get it.

its bogus. its practiced by charsmatics and it is NOT in The Bible. just another stage show, like speaking in tongues, the only difference is, at least with tongues they can say this misunderstood the Bible. With this bogus slain stuff, they don't have a verse to stand on.

It is bogus charismatic stuff. The Holy Spirit quickens us (makes us more alive). He does not "slay" us. Merry Christmas.
