The Bible does not say "His" image. Genesis 1:26 says: Then God said: "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness."

+ God +
The Catholic Church believes that God transcends the human distinction between the sexes.

+ Equality +
Sexism is against the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church:
Created in the image of the one God and equally endowed with rational souls, all men have the same nature and the same origin. Redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ, all are called to participate in the same divine beatitude: all therefore enjoy an equal dignity.
The equality of men rests essentially on their dignity as persons and the rights that flow from it:
Every form of social or cultural discrimination in fundamental personal rights on the grounds of sex, race, color, social conditions, language, or religion must be curbed and eradicated as incompatible with God's design.

The one exception is the ...
+ Ordination of Women +
The Catechism of the Catholic Church states:
The Lord Jesus chose men to form the college of the twelve apostles, and the apostles did the same when they chose collaborators to succeed them in their ministry.
The Church recognizes herself to be bound by this choice made by the Lord himself. For this reason the ordination of women is not possible.

I'm not Catholic, just to get that out there.
I think that you should read more about what interests you. Why are you Catholic? Was it a choice you made or something that you were brought up with? Explore the duality thing. It's actually very logical; everything in this WORLD has it's opposite, and that's a beautiful fact. It's a very prevalent idea in Buddhism and Taoism and many non-Abrahamic religions, many ancient religions as well.
Also, you don't have to accept everything ANY religion says, just because you are a follower of that religion. No one has the same take on anything, you can't find two people who like exactly the same music or movies or books or vacation spots or anything, so why should we expect to find millions who all interpret one religion the same way? So explore, investigate what seems right to you; don't feel guilty about it.
Life is a journey!

It's an interesting concept, as the Hebrew and Greek terms for Wisdom are both in the feminine. But what subordination? I was brought up in a parish dedicated to The Greatest Woman Who Ever Lived....we are always being accused of "worshiping" Her. What's the deal?? Women cannot be Priests, I will never bear children or give Birth to Messiah. You can't have it both ways.
It's NOT a matter of "better" or "subordinate" - it's a matter of differing roles and differing order.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, male nor female, slave nor free in Christ Jesus!

I disagree with you. Here's why: God created man in His image. Woman was created in man's image. All are His creations including what may come of their interactions. The subordination you are talking about is often taken out of context. I am a Christian woman and I am not what every atheist, feminists, or other ignorant groups "think" Christian women should be. I simply respect my husband and I can do that without fear or being his slave. I believe God gave men responsiblity to their wives and families in order to hold him accountable. In return, women should a respect a man who can live up to that expectation. God is that He is. He created gender. And He told you He is the Father. How can you be torn when it is plain and simple in front of you?

I'd tend to agree with you on the matter. God, being infinite, would be the infinite feminine as much as the infinite masculine, so long as you feel femininity isnt merely the absence of masculinity (I don't) Most catholic leaders dont feel like women are inferior, so i dont see how they should make up any less part of god than a man, since god created them both.

The Catholic Cult would want you to believe that humans look like God. None of the answers have it correct for your question. I have an advantage of reading text that formed the King James Bible. The fact it, God is talking about his spirituality. He wants us to be Godly. Even Moses never saw God; God appeared as a flame in a bush. His image is out perception of his goodness. Even Jesus never saw God; he always referred to our father in heaven. The Lords Prayer says hallowed be thy name. That is due to the fact that he is without shape or form.
Catholics, this question confused you; because you were never properly taught. Yout entire lives are spent reading pamplets of cult scriptures that are bot biblical.
With love in Christ.

It is hormones that makes a person male or female. Since God does not have a physical body he can be neither. The God of the bible is male because he was created by a male dominated society. The woman is described as a lesser creature created as an afterthought to serve man and the cause of sin.

the term "God" is more of a position then a person/spirit, just like president. Most believe that God is male because of the trinity. But, what if this position holds a female, or a couple. That's very possible. it's been my experience that although women have been suppressed in the past they carry a unique gift or power that men don't have. "Mother's intuition" "female sense", whatever; but doesn't that show that God (he/she) loves women just as mush as men if not more?

I think this most recent push for feminism in the Godhead is abunch of garbage meant to push the gay thing. Think about it. Mary has been known as spouse of The Holy Spirit for so long it's not funny. I mean the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary and she became pregnant. All three are the same The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. They are all male . He even said so. If women do not like the place he has given them --- tough!!

God is neither male or female. Humans chose a long time ago that males are worth more than females. I am a Roman Catholic and I believe that if I asked God he would say we were equal. and i just don't know what he would say about the vatican being ran by all men because women are not allowed.
