My 5 year old god son is afraid to sleep in his bed at night. His mom already told him that she will not allow him to sleep in her bed anymore. I told him that whenever he becomes afraid just pray to God and He will send angels to protect him so that he will never be afraid again. Is their a specific prayer that I can give him to pray? Thanks

This is about the small percentage that say they never grew up around minorities. They are so aware of everything minorities do when they should treat us like they treat other white people. They hold their opinion about the other races based off of a few of those minorities. One black person is rude, it means every black person is rude, for example. Why can't that person just be rude? Not a BLACK rude.

which will mean that they are less likely to break apart the fabricated self that we all construct, and out of whose eyes we think we are looking out of at the world..... and so are less likely to produce spiritual philosophers of the highest calibre....or does being more emotional make the self image less concrete to start with?

Atheism is like 'negative space'. It is just a title for that which is not there. However, it is funny to here that people (titled "Atheist") do not believe in anything... serious?! If that's the case, then stop breathing, because that's evidently not keeping you alive, is it?

I usually laugh when some one calls themself by this title. But then I realize that they are afraid of being loved.

Am I way off base?

First, to ward off the inevitable hostile replies, let me state that I grew up in Nevada within walking distance of a reservation (Shoshone Tribe) and had several native friends growing up.

Now, on to my point. Throughout human history, peoples have fought and conqoured one another. Those societies never set up reservations for the displaced people. They were simply forced to come into the new society, or die. And natives fought with each other as well, and don't think for a minute one tribe would set up a reservation for a rival tribe it had defeated.

So why do we have reservations? Especially today, at least a hundred years after the fighting has stopped. Even if you believe they were necessary at first, hasn't enough time elapsed that natives should be expected to be part of the general population by now? I think it is unfair to single out native americans for special treatment when all of human history suggests they shouldn't receive it.

We both like the same author, Mitch Albom, and he's going to me in the area signing books. I thought about buying her Teusday with Morrie,The five people you'll meet in heaven and For one more day, and having him sign them for her. She's read the first two(she borrowed them from me) and she hasn't borrowed the third.

What are your thoughts on this?

My husband and I are always mistreated or given the cold shoulder by whites in our community. Neither of us is 100% black. I'm black, puerto rican, and creole. My hubby is black and indian. We are lighter skinned (not saying that matters...I'm just stating all facts), well groomed, educated, articulate, and attractive people. We have a beautiful new baby who is cute as a button...so we get a lot of attention. Usually, it's older white people who frown their faces at us and act like it pains them to look at us. Why?

Now...I'm not one of those opressed black people who blaims "the man" for every bump in the road. I have taken my success into my own hands and worked hard for the accomplishments I've achieved. Yes, those ignorant blacks do exist (as do ignorant asses of all races) but we're miles apart from those people. Our class level is head and shoulders above the ghetto blacks in the inner city. Why r we unfairly treated by what my hubby likes to call "racist bastards"?

And - more importantly - why not something like, "To continue in Spanish, press one"?

I'm sure you know what I mean. For many a year, your average Western person has been white, straight, Christian, eats meat, etc. (I'm all of the above, except I'm an athiest, not a Christian.)

With the changes in racial equality, gay rights, vegetarianism, the introduction of other cultures and religions, the social norm has been challenged. A lot of straight, white, meat-eaters have been freaked out by the changes and have behaved quite badly. Conversely, a lot of the people *making* the changes (not all, & not the ones just living by these choices) condemn people like me and shout 'proudly' about whatever they are and often try to convert others to their way of thinking.

Are these activists trying to convince themselves they made the right choices, and are they afraid that if the social norm still leans toward being straight or eating meat, that they may be tempted back to these behaviours?

PS I'm all for making different choices - just not the attendant 'us and them' war.

its only freaking 12 and I already most likely failed a test which I thought I will get a 90 on cause the moron teacher switched mad stuff around from his review sheet and my long hours studying didnt help a damn. And I needed that 90 cause now I cant get a B meaning I got to take an extra math class for my major. Plus when I was on the subway tracks I saw a bloody squirrel corpse without a head took me like a good minute to realize it was actually a squirrel once. What the hell should I do to make this day a little better?

Why do American's say "erbs" when there is clearly an "H" in front of the word? It's not silent.
