My husband and I are always mistreated or given the cold shoulder by whites in our community. Neither of us is 100% black. I'm black, puerto rican, and creole. My hubby is black and indian. We are lighter skinned (not saying that matters...I'm just stating all facts), well groomed, educated, articulate, and attractive people. We have a beautiful new baby who is cute as a button...so we get a lot of attention. Usually, it's older white people who frown their faces at us and act like it pains them to look at us. Why?

Now...I'm not one of those opressed black people who blaims "the man" for every bump in the road. I have taken my success into my own hands and worked hard for the accomplishments I've achieved. Yes, those ignorant blacks do exist (as do ignorant asses of all races) but we're miles apart from those people. Our class level is head and shoulders above the ghetto blacks in the inner city. Why r we unfairly treated by what my hubby likes to call "racist bastards"?

Girl, some people are so damn stupid. I'm in an interracial relationship and we have a daugther. We're attractive and upstanding too. I don't know where you live but in my town, which is predominantly white, i've never had a problem. I think it's all about how you carry yourself. If you carry your head high and show people that you're not about to put up with anyone's ignorant bullshite, they won't bother you.

At least that's how it works for us. Whenever we get some dumbazz staring, I make sure to stare them right in the eyes and they turn away just like a coward. That's all they are. Cowards. Afraid of things that aren't like them. It's pathetic.

Hold your head high, hun. And the next time a racist prick gives you a nasty look, give your husband a sloppy wet kiss to really give em something to stare at. Ha!

No for the same reason Texas tried to re-home the Orthodox Mormons' children. As some would say, it allows their parents to brain wash them into a deviant life style. It is different choosing a lifestyle as an adult - that is a basic right but children cannot later make a sound decision as an adult if raised with bias. As far as the anti-white bigotry, who then is suitable? That line of thinking eliminates all but mixed race parents and what if they are not of the same mixed race? The vast majority of babies available in the USA for adoption are mixed or black and denying them a home for a life without love is just plain stupid. This may not be the best example but I can only think of my niece, once a Korean baby adopted by my sister who now has two Masters Degrees, is a professor, and is married to a professor and is still extremely close to her adoptive parents. Life in an orphanage would have been better?

Racism takes a part in this, but not in the worst way.

Old white guys hear about all of the "ghetto blacks", and I am sure they notice on the news that those people commit most of the crime in a city. So when they see you and your husband, they automatically think "black people", and assume you will try to rob them.

Of course, these old men ARE acting with racism. On the other hand, consider this. You are a black woman, and blacks are now the majority of people in the country. White people make up around 20% of the people in your city, but they commit 75% of the crimes. Wouldn't you be a little wary of white people?

Racism still exists, but it will always exist until more black people act like you and your husband.

Welcome to the real world. It's not a MTV show its life. "We" all deal with it. Whether it be a black person in a white neighborhood or a white guy walking in the ghetto. The Korean guy looking at a Hispanic kid in the cornor market or the mediocre white student jealous of the Asian kid.

Life isn't fair and people definitely aren't. Try not to worry about others around you and changing their views. Master what you can control, which is your views and possibly your childrens views and you will be making the world a better place.

They are all ignorant... I am white and as long as two people are happy they have every right to be together. The "white" people that I have seen judge others are older and were taught to think that way by their parents. Its just a long vicious cycle. We stop that by teaching our kids the right way. That it is not our place to judge, only God, so let him do his job.

the younger generation doesn't care. you may not like it, but you guys are leading the path of acceptance. In california, everything is so mixed that no one would bat an eye at your pairing, execpt to compliment the looks of your baby. If your in the south or midwest its a different story.

Did it ever occur to you that they are jealous of you? I am hispanic and well educated and have a very good job. There are some caucasians who cant stand for any type of minority to be succesful. THat is racism you are feeling. I have 2 daughters who are extremely beautiful. As infants they both had jet black hair and lots of it. I would get stares from other races whose babies hardly had any hair and were not that attractive. I would get hard looks. IT WAS SIMPLE _ JEALOUSY! I just walk with pride and it get them more mad. Keep your head up and strut your stuff! I know that I will probably get thumbs down, but, I am stating my opinion, and thats all that matters. Good luck!

there are those, of all races, who suffer from low self esteem. the only way they can feel better about themselves is to find someone they can feel superior to. in order to feel superior to some one , you first have to dehumanize them. this is accomplished by racial epithets, slurs and sheer hatred. once these people convince themselves that the race/ group/ religion/ etc etc, is not human, then the can look at themselves as "superior". stupid, isn't it?

Because thats exactly what they are. There is no cure for ignorance and unfortunately stupidity doesnt hurt. It is the older ones you say and that isnt good because what are they teaching their kids. You know who you are and when it all boils down to it, who gives a crap what those people think.

If black people move into a white negihborhood, property values fall. Sorry, but it's true. There are many neighborhoods where I live that were once white, and then taken over by minorities. It's pure economics, not hate. If you want to get the whites to accept you, go out of your way to make the outside of your home look absolutely gorgeous. Make your house raise the property values of their house and watch them come around.
