This is about the small percentage that say they never grew up around minorities. They are so aware of everything minorities do when they should treat us like they treat other white people. They hold their opinion about the other races based off of a few of those minorities. One black person is rude, it means every black person is rude, for example. Why can't that person just be rude? Not a BLACK rude.

I know it goes both ways. You're not answering the question. Let a white person ask about black person & I will respond. Until the answer the question.

Like most things in life, people fear what they don't understand. By reaching out and sharing our different cultures, we may break down some stereotypes.
I just can't believe that we are still having this conversation in the 21st century.
We can only hope...

You answered it yourself, the small percentage that say they never grew up around minorities. They don't know how to act, or react.
By the way, there is a lot of white people that scare me and I'm white.
A scary person is scary, a rude person is rude, regardless of color.

People tend to be afraid or nervous about things that are different from their "norm." If they haven't been around a lot of people from other backgrounds, then they base their opinion on what they do know. It is a bad generalization but human nature. The more they are exposed to different people and things the more their opinion will probably change based on their new experiences.

I am white and from a community that has very little diversity so I understand because I did this until I went to college. I try to keep an openmind about everyone and always have but you only know what you know and base opinions on that.

I think I understand your question. When I joined the military. I met a girl from Montana who had never actually met a black person. She obviously had seen us on tv and what not but never actually met one. I thought this to be unbelievable for the time (93 or 94). She wanted to touch my skin and the whole 9. Then the next thing out of her mouth was "you aren't going to beat me up or rob me are you". She said it half jokingly but to think I'm the first black person she ever encountered, I'm in the military with her and she thinks I want to rob her. Not her fault she had never met a black person, it was just the way we had been portrayed from what she had seen and heard on tv and from other people.

We ended up becoming good friends. So to answer your question its somewhat of how we are portrayed as why some people are scared of us.

Ignorance, pure ignorance. You are generally afraid of what you don't know and don't understand. Me, being from South Africa and used to what we called "Apartheid", knows that the whites here had to bring in laws to keep whites and blacks apart. It didn't work then, and it will never work in the future. But once we started working together and understanding one another, we started accepting each other and now we are striving towards harmony in a Country where we thought it will never be possible. Learn to understand different races, and all the differences will disappear. I hope this answers your question.

"Blacks do the same thing though. They always think the white man is out to discriminate against them. If they don't get the job or the promotion, or the recognition, they scream that they were discriminated against. Why can't they suck it up like the rest of us that maybe they just weren't qualified?"

Thankyou‼ So I'm not the only one. White man doesn't get a job, does nothing, black man doesn't get a job under a white man and he calls racism. I watched this show Traffic Cops, or it might of been Road Wars. A load of white guys got arrested (its English not as many black people as in America). Then one black guy gets arrested and he starts going, "Is it 'cos I 'is' black?" No mate its cos your're swearing at that cop for no reason idiot. Almost all of them do it (not all though) "Is it cos I 'is' black" wtf?

I think you are reading more into it than what is really there. You need to step back and not look at all white people as being stupid and rude. And quit feeling sorry for yourelves for something that happened over 200 years ago and get over it. By the way my ancestors were here before anyone including "white" people.

I used to live in Milwaukee. My experience with blacks wasn't limited to one or two. I used to attended those worthless public schools. I will have to say that most people with the same experience would all agree that they had a bad experience with the black race.

So maybe you should be more considered about the problems within your own race. there is where the problems are.

because other races pull the race card so much, let me give you personal experience of mine, me and my friend were at a amusement park standing in line at a very long wateride, well these three black girls decided they would cut in line (this was about 10 feet ahead of us) so one of the people behind them went and got an employee to tell them to get in the back of the line, so they start ranting that this must be a "white" theme park and that black people aren't allowed to go on the rides, etc. and all the black people were clapping!?!? and i felt so bad for the employee because he was just doing his job, stuff like this makes caucasion people think they have to step on eggshells around minorities

See some already saying youre racist because of the question you asked, but what about the questions some of you whites ask.Not all of you but some of you.some of you come on here and ask all sorts of sillie questions about black people but yet get upset when somebody ask you how do you feel about something.oh I forgot white is right.

The same could be said of any community just not a white community. When you are ignorant of a culture or group of people you tend to interact with them in a different way than you would with those who are familiar to you. It is human nature.
