Yes, you're absolutely way off base. "Atheist" means "one who is without belief in the existence of deities". If you break the word down, the prefix "a-" means, in this context, "without", and "theist" means "one who believes in the existence of a god or gods".
Being without belief in God doesn't equal being without a reason to live or being without belief in everything (like how oxygen keeps us alive).

If there is no such thing as atheism, why are you asking a question about it? Atheists simply don't believe in a god. This does mean that they do not believe in breathing or that they have nothing to live for or that they have no purpose in life. People who do not believe in God have a love life, friends, jobs, children, responsibilities, commitments, an education, cars, houses, morals, and everything else the rest of society has. Are you way off base? Are you even aware that there is a ballpark?

Your definition is incorrect.
You are indeed "way off base".
Atheism is not negative space. It is non-belief in a higher power. That's *all*.
I believe in many things. I do not believe there is any such thing as god, therefore I am an atheist.
You could call it whatever you like, it exists just the same.

A person is only negative when they display negativity. How is your question going to convince others by yours?
Think about what you said is that love? What does love really mean to you? Is love about laughing at others because they are not where you are at?
What you reap is what you will sow. Meditate on that for a while and see the kind of responses you will get to your question.
I feel very saddened by your question in an attempt to shoot others down and have to wonder if your question alone was meant to antagonise others into posting?

Are you way off base? Yep.
An atheist is a person that does not believe in a god or gods. Atheists do not "believe in nothing"...
Funny that you mention love. Love is one thing I believe in, as well as the potential of humanity, freedom of speech, friendship, and many, many, many other things.
Afraid of being loved? If it's judgmental people like you that have cornered the market on the ability to love and be loved, then you must be using a definition of "love" that I am unaware of.

Yes, you are way off base. I do believe in nothing. I do accept as true three axioms required for knowledge to exist, but I acknowledge their axiomic nature. I don't 'believe' them, I merely accept them.
Other than those three, I demand proof for everything. If someone were to ask me right now if my dad's truck is still where I parked it, I'd have to answer, "I dunno, probably." I cannot be sure it is.
I am, however, absolutely certain that there is no deity of any kind, because I managed to realize that the deific hypothesis leads to free will, which means it is falsifiable by disproving the existence of free will, which is easy enough to do. Without free will, the deific hypothesis is meaningless and therefore false.
I don't 'believe' there is no deity. I know it for a fact.

related to the comparable time particular different idiots at right here comprehend that "Atheism" isn't a faith. An Atheist who claims to be slightly of Atheism or accepts an Atheist Church is a vulnerable minded Agnostic attempting to be cool. i'm an Atheist with my very own reasons for my loss of theory interior the life of any deity that have been formed as a Christian Pastor. for the duration of my pass from fervent pastor to confident Atheist I did for a time replace into Agnostic as i replaced into very puzzled approximately what I had believed all my life and the shown fact that replaced into staring me interior the face. At no factor have I ever been puzzled sufficient to combine the titles. in reality, I choose observing extremely some the fewer clever Atheists and each and all the "Agnostic Atheists (LMAO)" that i ought to easily no longer believe in a deity without label yet because of fact the genuine definition of an Atheist is in basic terms an entire lack in any theory of the life of any deity, i'm caught with it.

Of course, they do, that is way, such practice is well keep and maintain, how do you think Satan is willing to believed on then and don't get cough by God, do atheist know this?, think its a practice satirical cult of deception and they got it path, and in their own way they are love, or the (equivalent), in a negatived way, to what for you may be (to me), positive(God, Jesus, Christianity), They will do what ever will take for then to deceived, not only me and you, but even their own God SATAN>>>>>>So, they can all become WINNERS. DON'T FULL YOUR SELF, NONE IS AFRAID OF FILLING LOVE, LESS, Being Love, "They can't Understand How Christians can Love their self" <<<<<<<<>>>>>

Yes, you're way off base.
Atheism is not 'negative space'. Here: I'll show you how the range of religiosity goes -
- Theist (Belief in god/god(s), with a religion)
- Deist (Belief in god/god(s), without a religion)
- Agnostic Theist (The question of god's existence is unknowable, but most likely is there)
- Agnostic Atheist (The question of god's existence is unkowable, but most likely is not there)
- "Weak" Atheist (Lacks a belief in god)
- "Strong" Atheist (Believes that there is no god).
So, as you can see, every title has its place from the "very religious" to the "not religious at all." Atheists believe in lots of things - just like you do. They just don't share your belief in god. But they can believe in other philosophies like secular humanism, socialism, naturalism... those are all wonderful beliefs. To suppose we don't believe anything would mean that we're inhuman - we all hold personal beliefs about the world about us.
Afraid of being loved? I am loved - by my friends and family. And I get to love them back, too. That's more than I can say about "love" with Jesus/god.

Well first of all, Atheism is a lack of belief in any supreme being. So if someone does not believe, then it does exist.
I don't understand your "stop breathing" and "afraid of being loved" thing.
I get plenty of love from alot of people. So I have no reason to kill myself by halting my breathing.

"way off base" - No
It's not nice to tell people to stop breathing tho ; ( But yes, Satan tempts human souls every day. Sometimes I wonder if people should start with educating themselves on Satan.....he's nasty, manipulative, a con, the father of all lies....he's ruthless and surely not anybody's friend. One who already knows about God and fancy's oneself able to overthrow him....Lucifer tried that - God changed his name and cast him and all his followers out of heaven. Satan is the ultimate example lovingly documented to man kind. When the end comes the great deceiver and his ruthless lure to all of God's children is all over with. Sad isn't it he used to be a believer and used to have it all.
Sigmund Frued was a self-proclaimed athiest. PBS aired an educational documentary on him and C. S. Lewis called "The Question of God".
