...Excellent! Would you like to come round on Saturday?I'm sacrificing my first-born to Moloch."
"What's that? You believe in freedom of religion for "reasonable" religions?"

What constitutes an unreasonable religion? Who gets to decide and on what grounds?
(Child sacrifice is deliberately extreme to establish the idea but there are real, but less clear-cut, issues)

Just caught up with CNN news. They were talking about the Litvinenko inquiry from Moscow.

Now, i could be wrong here, but when the CNN reporter pronounced Moscow " Moss - cow" (yes cow as in beef), I was a little confused.

As far as Im aware, the city is known as "Moss-co" (Co, as in coat)...

Enlighten me please, I don't accept for a minute that this is an accent issue.

:)

I found an old Reader's Digest from the 1930's. It had an article about how the USA was trying to slow the population explosion by giving birth control devices, and sex education poor nations. The article said that government yielded to pressure from the Catholic Church. Now, millions die of starvation every month. Our planet has air and water pollution. We are on the brink of war. And our resources like oil are dwindling.

of the girls that i've dated, i've noticed only one race/ethnicity didn't seem to carry an inate sense of attitude, vulgarity, and abruptness.
to avoid confrontation, i will NOT say which one. But seriously, even the girls that i didn't date and just casually noticed, they were the same. by the way, i AM of a background that i prefer to avoid dating. The one that i prefer, most of them were genuinely nice and sweet. any insight?

My husband and I are recently married and it is the holiday season. We are very short on money.

Today I just found out that a girl I used to babysit died of a drug overdose or of something drug-related. I used to be best friends with her sister and as the family lived down the street, we were always at each others' houses. I live in another state now and can't go there, plus the funeral is family only/private.

In the obituary, they ask for donations for a drug treatment facility. I think it would be more suitable to give to this facility in the deceased's name than it would be to send flowers to the family. What is the etiquette for doing this? Do I donate and also send a card to the family? I don't care if they know that I donated or not, but I want them to know that I am thinking of them. I am not sure if the facility will give a list of donors to the family. What is appropriate in this situation? My last name has also changed; how do I sign?

Thanks,
Tara

"And the swine....he is unclean to you...of their flesh ye shall not eat." Leviticus 11:7-8, Deut. 14:8

"This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice: he is a glutton and a drunkard. And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones that he die; so shall thou put evil away from among you." Deut. 21:18-21

If Jesus annulls the Laws of God by crucifixion, is the Bible still Holy, or does the Old and New Testament contradict each other making Jesus a stubborn and rebellious son?

Why does the Sabbath shift from Seventh Day to Sunday and to worship of the Sun?

Has the crucifixion taken man away from worship of the Only True God (John 17:3) to pagan worship of three-gods-in-one and a cross?

Is not this cause for concern?

Pain of Afghan suicide women
By Payenda Sargand
BBC News, Kabul
Gulsoom was unconscious for a week
Gulsoom is 17-years-old and married. Last year she tried to commit suicide - she failed.
She set fire to herself but, against the odds, survived with appalling injuries.
Her plight reflects that of a growing number of young Afghan women, campaigners say.
Driven to desperation by forced marriages and abusive husbands, more and more are seeking release through self-immolation.
Gulsoom was engaged at the age of 12. Three years later her family married her to a man aged 40 who she says was addicted to drugs.
She was then taken to Iran. Her husband beat her regularly, Gulsoom says, particularly when he had no money for heroin.
"Once after I was badly beaten by my husband, I was in bed when I heard a voice murmuring and telling me to go and set fire to myself," she says.
"I went and poured petrol on my whole body. The flames on my body lasted

I've read a lot of VERY innacurate claims made against the Catholic Church since I've started using Y!A. Claims that we pray to Mary, worship the Pope, are idolators, are un-biblical, etc... What I'd like to know is this: Of the people who have criticized Catholicism, are you basing the statements you make on personal experience with the church, or on what you hear from other members of YOUR faith?

Recently, I've found myself developing really intense feelings for a female friend of mine. We have so much in common, and we complement each other so well. For months now we've been inseparable and I've been trying to deny my attraction for her. Except a few days ago, she started joking around trying to re-enact a kissing scene in a play we saw earlier that day and she grabbed my face and kissed me. Well I reciprocated and we ended up kissing for a few seconds. I pulled away and left because I was just way too uncomfortable, I felt like I was going to faint.

Since then we've talked about it, and she suggested we start going steady as a couple. I want to so bad, but I'm worried about being seen as a lesbian. I don't have anything against it, I mean I've found out myself that you can't help who you fall in love with. It's just that I know that I've never been attracted to women like that, but I'm really attracted to this one. Is it considered lesbianism?
