the real meaning has nothing to do with reindeer or santa.....but it has to do with the birth of jesus even though he wasnt born on christmas...people reserve that day for him!

self-absorbed country ever! America's idea of "breaking news" is "Brad Pitt divorces Aniston," when natural disasters happen everywhere worldwide; some people in this country don't know what goes on in other places and some people didn't even know where in the world Iraq was situated until they went to war there, but what shocks me the most is that they start celebrating christmas way b4 advent even starts. Christmas starts the night before christmas; it will make sense if people started getting into it two weeks before the occasion (like most other countries do) instead of getting into it right after thanksgiving, when advent is still weeks ahead.Some people don't even know what advent is, yet, they celebrate christmas. So my question: why do americans start celebrating christmas a month before the church (who came up with the idea of the occasion) starts celebrating it? (I have traveled d world & only in america have i witnessed such behaviour. no offence usa, i love u just the same)

I've recently signed up for Red Cross and I specifically asked for an office volunteer job from them. And they said, they'd see what they could do. So today she left a message on my answering machine about a rescue action team (something like that) class and I call back saying I wasn't ready to go into the field and I specifically wanted an office job. (Which I am currently going to school for "office work"). A part of me would love to go into the fields of America, Africa, etc, (and it's a dream of mine) but since I'm not very active and kind of fearful of the floods that American Red Cross have to deal with and other disasters, I don't know if I could ever be ready. What could/should I do?

How can you prove me that Jesus was born on Dec 25 if it is not written in the bible? After a LOT of research I found that that christmas is a pagan celebration, but many christinas celebrate it then I am asking you 'Is Christmas a celebration based on the Bible?'

It seems that every time I see some news interview or show or sporting event where something goes well for someone, he/she often thanks his/her God. When things don't go well or as hoped... what happened? Never hear about their God then... I find that odd.

And lets not forget that our children will be sent to the Jesus camps, they will have to recite the pledge of the bible right next to their wierd christian pledge of allegence.

Do you want attending bible camps part of the school field trips?

As americans we have the freedom to rebel against the unjust, if the evangelicals get their way we will be in a radical christian country! And I for one will not stand for that! WHO'S WITH ME!

I have seen so many people behaving in such a repugnant manner--peace on earth good will towards men goes completely out the window and they become rude, audacious, self centered pricks in a war to see who can spend the most money on a gift to buy people's affection to the tune of techno remixes of repetitive old carols playing on a tinny loudspeaker--Can you answer the question truthfully "what christmas means to you"? Because it's obvious that nobody gives two farts in a windstorm about their fellow man at this time of year--it's all about money, possessions, appearances and self gratification--Christ's birthday has been usurped and perverted by good old fashioned devil greed--Why do you still pretend it's a happy time?

My husband and i have this little language that we speak to each other when wanting to say something without others knowing what we are saying. He thinks he first learned it from a friend many years ago, (but now isnt to sure if this was just a werid dream!!!) so anyone else heard of this strange language ? or is his maddness just spreading to me ?!

With so many religions available, which one is right? I will focus on the main three that have basically the same God: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam - I placed them in chronolgical order, not by preference. I know that there are at least two types of Jews: Jews without Jesus and Jews with Jesus. They may be more types, but I do not know. Then the Christians. Christians have a bunch of denominations (if you are a non-denomination Christian, then guess what...that is a denomination) - Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans, Methodists, Mormons, Penthecostals, Baptists, etc. The list is too long. Then the Muslims. They have a few splits in their religion as well. The best known right now are the Shiites and Sunnis. So which one is right? Who gets to go to heaven and who does not? How do you know you are in the right one with so many under the same God? Do not quote from your Holy Book because then everyone is right.

Do you have to close your eyes? Do you have to kneel? Will a prayer not work if you speak it to god in a normal tone as though speaking with a friend? What if you pray over your food just by thinking it real fast? Are there good ways and bad ways to pray? What is the best?
