Yes, they can say Merry Christmas in one breath and then turn and jump your case because you didn't get to them soon enough because you were helping another customer who was there first. Oh have you ever had someone come up and actually step between you and the customer you are helping and say they are in a hurry so you need to help them first?
Have you noticed the ones that say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas tend to be less rude and more patient?

The reason its so upsetting and such a mess, is because God never said to celebrate this day, or this way. It started by being an alternative to a pagan festival, in which, sadly, many of the pagan traditions were used, like the "christmas" tree, which is a pagan practice forbidden in the old testament. The date chosen is the celebration for the pagan Mithra sun god.
People get in a mess when they come up with things on their own (like holidays, traditions, etc.) as though what God gave us wasn't enough.
I believe in remembering Jesus every day. I know God didn't say to celebrate anyone's birthday, especially Jesus'. I honestly think that's why mankind gets in such a mess - by inventing our own religious practices and arrogantly just assuming God would endorse them.
It's all about commercialism. That's all it really is.

I don't pretend it is a happy time. It's an awkward season to negotiate, at best.
But I've not gone quite so far as to rip the veil of illusion from those who still hold hopes, for whatever reason, of a magical time. I'm not saying there isn't any, but it's not there in the mainstream of heaving, shopping, humanity.
When I detect a fellow sceptic/sufferer I try to offer comfort. Otherwise the whole world could end up hating Christmas and still practicing it, lest they upset the others who, too, have their false happiness on show. A festival of masks.
Do you want to go out with Emerson Lake and Palmer's
"I believe in Father Christmas"?
...They sold me a dream of Christmas...
Or Tom Lehrer's
"Commercial Christmas Carol"?
...Hark, the Herald Tribune sings,
Advertising wondrous things...

LOL you're so descriptive, Hon....(I like the 2 farts in a windstorm part the best)**snicker**
Alright, to a vast degree you've nailed it, I won't pretend you haven't, because corporate America, and Canada in my case, decided to overemphasize the GIFT that was given to us through the fabulous birth of our Saviour, and turn it into nothing more than a commercial racket. It's not difficult for me as someone who doesn't particularly care for pretty, shiny things to stay focused on my Lord, but for Christians with small children, it must be a task for you, and I applaud you!

Because it is a happy time. I've learned over the years to shop when others do not, plan ahead, use the internet, stay away from the nutty stuff, and nutty times, make a budget and stick to it.
That way I can enjoy the real meaning of Christmas. I won't let myself get caught up in the crap.

I suggested an episode of "The bite" and Clinton Kelley make his ugly vest. All you should do is get a low-fee vest and then bypass to a fabrics/craft save and get some paint, fringe, little pompom style balls and fabrics glue.

Christmas means to me the most precious gift ever given, one that no one can ever steal or make ugly. Such as one given over two thousand years ago,Jesus.

How does it go, by their fruits you will recognize them. Isn't Christmas a pagan holiday? I'm a cat and even I know that.
