I work in a small government office of about 14 people. Most people are nice but only in a cordial way. I do not like to gossip and therefore to not join in, in most of the office conversations. This has of course excluded me from everything. No one talks to me, they don't ask me if I want to go in for lunch, they never ask how I am, rarely say hi to me, and on occasion someone may acknowledge my existence. There is one guy who does talk to me, but thats only because everyone thinks he is incompentent and therefore he is an outcast too. I want to be on at least speaking terms with my co-workers but I do not want to talk about things like dating, boys, children, so and so's boyfriends or girlfriends, sex, sex & the city, etc. Its like they don't have lives outside of their friends pathetic lives. How can I get them to at least talk to me without joining in these miserable conversations or am I doomed to be the outcaste?

I experienced logically inexplicable circumstances after my mothers sudden death. While I would like to contribute all symptoms to shock or post traumatic stress, several individuals witnessed the same inexplicable events. I want to know if we are alone.

Just to let you know that you're not alone in thinking that women should be ordained and that our messages and teachings are authoritative enough without the benifit of male 'covering' and that marraiges should be built upon mutual submission with husbands sharing their socially allowed authority with their wives like Christ shared his authority with the church... I think that power-hungry some people have totally misinterpreted (perhaps maliciously) the language of authority in the Bible to keep women spiritually subjugated and intellectually controlled. Check out '10 Lies the Church Tells Women' by J. Lee Grady. It's not bad. If you disagree with our interpretations of the Bible, go somewhere else and flame. Thanks.

I have a major problem. Ever since I've moved to Tennessee from California, I have been emotional. I have been holding all of my emotions in, but I hate Tennessee so much. I have been a straight A student from elementary school until high school, but now I just do not care. I procrastinate just to see how much I can do until I crack under pressure. I hate school. (Don't worry, I don't want to kill myself). I was Student Government president in Cali, but over here, no one knows me. They stare at me funny, and if I try befriending them, they think i am a dork or a geek. Either I'm, too Indian or too tan or too smart or to outgoing or to comfortable. Ugh. I just wish I was a blonde white chick from CA. Then I would be accepted. By the way, my parents will never let me visit a therapist because they do not believe in therapists so please do not suggest it.

What happened to just plain giving? What is the difference between giving someone a present, or "gifting" them? It sounds very ceremonial, or else like we're smacking them upside the head. Did advertisers come up with this to make us spend more and make a bigger deal out of "gifting"?
