Okay, my MIL says her dog is a Selkie. She says that according to myth, it was a seal, blah blah blah, I didn't listen well to her, and now it's stuck being a dog.

Today I came across the legend of the Selkie in a book, and it seems they are seals who strip off their skins to become human- not dogs.

Do dogs tie into the legend at all? Or is my MIL making stuff up? Again?

I am getting sick of many companies referring to their employees as associates! As an example I have called companies where I have been put on hold and while waiting I have heard the following ridicoulous statement: 'all of our associates are busy assisting other customers - please stay on the line and an associate will soon assist you'. What is wrong with the term 'Customer Service Representative'? Places like Wal-Mart and the HomeDepot like to call their employees associates. The other part of my gripe is why do many retailers refer to their customers as 'guests'? I am of the old school where I may be a guest in a hotel, a patron in a restaurant but in a hardware store or a department store to have 'associates serving guests' seems to me to be too politically correct. Are they trying to placate minimum wage employees by giving them titles but no real pay and elevating the status of the people they are dealing with the patronizing title of guest?

It seems like that was the grandioso decade when this country came together and it just seems like a wonderful time. I can see the fashion start to move twards 1960 style and the same trends like the peace sign and the hair styles ect.

I ask because I am a Christian and my mom is starting to get into Buddhism. I'm not happy that she's getting into that stuff (I told her she's a far too angry person to become a Buddhist but I was being facetious). She is her own person though and its not my say, but, from a good point of view, at least people cannot tell me, "you are only a Christian because your parents brainwashed you"

Anyone sick of the nascar wannabes with the extremely LOUD exhaust pipes? The boom cars are bad enough. I can't even go out in my yard without feeling like I'm living in the middle of a racetrack.

These guys don't realize that the smaller their penis is, the louder their trucks and cars are. How do you feel about this?

ive always considered myself to be an optimist. im also optimistic that gay rights and gay marriage will persavere here in the states. the sad reality is that it will take time. i tend to believe a decade at least. the wheels of progress are slowwwww. here in massachusettes a person was not able to buy meat from your grocery store on a sunday. that only changed in 1993. let alone a grocery store was only allowed to be open from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on a sunday. a packy(package store) wasnt allowed to be open on sundays only until 3 years ago. alot of these laws are called blue laws or grandfather laws. these may seem like meaningless issues. but the point is that they are rediculous laws that serve no purpose but to old tradition of conservatives.
so gay rights and gay marriage will someday be available to us all. but again it will take time. when it comes to this topic i dont look only at the glass being 1/2 full or 1/2 empty. i see the glass as being to damned BIG your remark

Two individuals attended our wedding reception and caused scenes. Neither brought a gift, so I am not required to thank them for that, both got very drunk, and one of them called a mentally challenged guest (my husband's coworker!) a retard. She also made a rude comment in front of others about my best friend; the comment nearly had my friend in tears. Neither said congratulations or thank you when they left. I am genuinely not thankful for their presence at the reception, and neither is my husband.

I thanked the female guest for attending a wedding shower even though she did not bring a gift. I thanked her for her support or something like that (she is actually my sister in law).

I want to do what follows etiquette best, and what will minimize drama. Help!

Are your bills all paid up fully, and are you free of debt? Because if you leave unpaid bills behind when you're raptured away, it's still stealing.

Will thiefs be raptured?

My partner and I have been together for 20 years. We dont live together at the moment due to work issues.
We were supposed to be at my brother's house at 1:00.
My partner shows up at my house at 12:30. Its a 2 hour drive.
They had eaten without us and fixed us a plate. I was mortified and embaressed. It ruined the holiday for me. How can I keep him from ruining Christmas?
