A body is a good one. We have many different functions, uses and abilities, but one head that controls the whole group.

Or a building built with a firm foundation on a rock, the biggest storms may come a blow against it, but it will not fall.

The strongest and most profound symbol of church is the bible. In every church you will see one form or another of the bible. Call it by any other name and it still plays the same part of the creator. It is the voice of Him who speaks in a language that only his followers could understand. It is a secert language that many think they could speak but only the chosen discern its meaning beyond the written language. For the followers it is a breathing word with power that never dies or fades with time. It is glory manifesting life in the center of the building that is made of motar, bricks, and tile

No because the church is something personal, I mean no one can tell you what they feel a symbol is to you, because it may mean something different to you. I believe people get different things out of church and religion if you want to know about it go to church. Then you come back on and tell us what you got out of it,

The Church is the Body of Christ, with Jesus as Head and every individual believer as a member of His Body.
"And He (the Father) put all things in subjection under His feet and gave Him (Jesus) as head over all things to the church, which is His Body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all" (Ephesians 1:22; see also I Corinthians Chapter 12)

The Church is like a lighthouse, which provides illumination and guidance, night and day, in good weather and bad, resisting the world's constant attempts to wear it down and wash it away.

The purpose of the church is to guide all men to salvation in Christ.

The onl thing I could think of was this quote : " A good man will do good things and a bad man will do bad things; but to make a good man do bad things it take Religion".
Either that or it was George Carlin : Religion is like a lift in your shoe. It's there when you need it for as long as you need it. Just don't make me wear your shoes...and let's not go nailing lifts onto the natives' feet.

Early Christians used the fish symbol, because they were fishers of men like in the story of Peter, the story of seven loaves and two fishes.
another symbol of the church is one that Christ likened the church to that of His bride, thence "the church is the Bride of Christ!"

Here is a Christian link for you. I think the most universal other than the cross is the sign of the fish.
