I haven't heard that phrase a lot (Or like ever) but i'm a Catholic so I can answer it . Most (pretty much all flowling) Catholics think that if you have sex you should keep the baby (no brith control either) and don't get drunk or dress totally unmodestly. So some people (use the argument )are like "your supid and NEVER have REAL fun just dum stuff e,c.t so people are having fun they use it as a point that you don't have to be all drunk and all to have fun. Do they? I know that in my experience with Christians when I was 16 I found I had had more fun than ever before, but I don't hear, generally, of Christians trying to push the point.
I take it you have?
It could be that some Christian said that in response to people arguing that being a Christian was equivalent to being bored.
As to your explanation, could I make a comparison?
"Why do musicians say: I love this music! Is it because they subconsciously hate it?" I really feel the logic is about equivalent.

Of all of the people I knew who were "born again" they seemed to lose their sense of humor. These were people I knew for years! I had to be careful not to tell them any jokes they might find in the least offensive. It should be a psychology question. Ask why Christians seem to lose their sense of humor or I will at a later date.

You may not like my answer but I'm going to give it anyway.
Yes, I am a Christian.
Before being saved, I pretty much did what I wanted when I wanted.
After I was saved, my values changed and I no longer do many of the things I used to do.
Why? Because there are many things we are commanded not to do. My greatest desire is to live to please the Lord.
Do I still have fun? Of course.

Christians have a different idea of fun. They may do whatever they feel free to do, as long as they do it with God in mind. Non-Christians live for pleasure where they can find it, but Christians have changed priorities. They derive pleasure from discipline. Therefore their hearts are tuned to God, and find pleasure in worship every day as well as confidence in Him.

Because there are some people who say that Christians aren't allowed to have fun because they have too many rules.

But it really all depends on your definition of 'fun.'

Perhaps it's a case of 'the lady doth protest too much'... All I know is generally when people aren't happy they tend to spend an inordinate amount of time telling people they are.

If you accepted Jesus Christ into your heart, why cant you have fun, the Holy Spirit lives in you, He is life....and religion is an evil spirit because religion is man made........God is spirit.
