People often tell me that I have a slight accent, and ask me what country I'm from. Problem is... I'm not from a foreign country! I have no idea what they are talking about--I don't notice an accent, even when I hear a recording of my own voice--but I've been told this by MANY strangers... I guess I have a speech impediment that sounds like a foreign accent. I don't WANT to have a fake accent. Any ideas on how to fix this, when I don't even hear it myself?

Bear in mind, I am not referring to child molesters, but the hundreds of thousands of others on the registries who are there for minor or moderate sex offenses. Why is society so willing to believe that the recidivism rate of sex offenders (not pedophiles) is sky high when there are dozens of web sites and experts who have published statistics showing the opposite is true?

Is it that easy to brainwash the public?

I went to a well respected spiritual person as a last resort because nothing could explain a certain chain of bad experiences that were happening-----she told me my x had a picture of me, a piece of my hair, a piece of my clothing , in a container which was buried in a cemetery somewhere......I do not know much on this subject....any info is appreciated

Why do you think christianity has survived so long when it would have been so much more appealing to make up a religion that did not involve animal sacrifice, blood atonement, death by crucifiction that gets blamed on you, the crusades, the spanish inquisition, Salem, and the Bush administration? What are these people thinking? I really don't know how this stuff continues to be perpetuated...

PS... If a christian quotes scripture in response to this... it is further proof that there is no independent thought in christianity.

My daughter is 9 years old and has never gone to church a day in her life. But bless her wonderful heart and her great friends she came to me the other day to tell me about her belief in God. I am so very proud of her and want to help her with her belief, but now I am concerned about churches in town. I am a catholic but my husband is lutheran(yes mixed). We both have strong faith, but we have yet to find a church that we are comfortable in. Here is the kicker my son who we both love and who our daughter idolizes has said straight out that there is no god and he doesn't believe at all in him. I don't want my son's beliefs to color the budding beliefs of my daughter. Is there a good way to handle this? My son is 17 and will soon be 18 and he has this tendency to belittle a person's belief in god. (He has done it to friends of his).

I've seen and heard it used interchangeably in the sense of it being considered both a religion and an ethnicity. Yet, when you really think about it, someone could be from any racial background and be considered a Jew if they actually adhered to that particular belief. Is this just an exaggeration? Because I don't personally know any atheists. Is this because I live in the Bible belt or something. I had a friend in school who said her boyfriend was atheist and that's about it. Rumors are my family was involved in it..When your heritage is involved in it..does that mean that you are still apart of it. Does it pass through the generation?
