it's okay if you got something special ,but do you really have to show off?

Some people show off because they truly believe that they are terrific and wonderful, and they want everyone else to know it too.
Some people show off because they are insecure and want people to be impressed by them and think they're special or rich or whatever.
And then there are the people who show off to hide some ugly secret or dirty fact about themselves that they are trying to hide from everyone else, like that they're a child molester or something.

Everybody including moral preachers does it to some extent. Everybody loves to be loved, accepted, and ultimately find a mate; to do that people have to demonstrate why they are a more attractive a choice than other people. Whether we're applying for a job or trying to conquer somebody we fancy, we know that the best presented, most confident, and most skilful types are the cats that get the cream. Even those of us that would prefer to be humble realise that if we never sell ourselves, others may not treat us with respect, give us a job, or find us attractive, so we're forced to play the game.
People that look like they're showing off are just not very good at it. With experience people realise that nonchalance is more attractive than trying too hard, but even that could be a form of subtle and disguised showing off!
I hope that the more enlightened people on this site realise that even they probably show off to some level. Why would you buy a Mercedes over a Volvo? Why wear a suit instead of shirt and jeans? In fact, why wear anything (in summer)? Like it or loathe it, it's human nature.

What's special, a 12 inch or a Double D pair? People show off because ugga buggha uggh hoogah and for the entertainment of not actually being imressive in any way. It's comical. Showin off. It's great for the person, bad for the jealous begrudger, comical for the observer.

Because people feel insecure about themselves. People always think they need to be better than everyone else. I can understand why people want to be better, people feel by being the best, they are worth something in this world. It's sad that human beings have this way of thinking, but it doesn't have to be this way. If all people just accepted people for who they are, people wouldn't feel the need to show off because they would know who they are, and would feel good just being them. And they wouldn't have to proove anything to anybody besides to themselves.

Low self esteem. It's what makes people show off. Sometimes it's the only way they feel good about themselves.

many dif reasons and it depends on the situation. guys show off for girls and around other guys bcuz were so damn competetive
