I get a lot of gift bags for my birthday and etc...and it seems like such a waste to just throw them away...Is it tacky to re-use them when I give other people gifts?

There was a thing on Dateline or Nightline a few weeks ago about stereotypes. One thing they talked about was the stereotype that black people are more athletic naturally. There were some people that said this is true, just look at all the athletes on sports teams; most are black. Others said it was just that: a stereotype, and cited other reasons for why there just happens to be a disproportionate number of black professional athletes (like they're more driven to succeed). The thing I noticed is that it was generally white people saying it was natural and generally black people saying it was due to drive. That got me wondering whether black people don't want to believe in innate athletic ability because that opens the door to black people being labeled as innately other things (like stupider, as some researchers have tried to prove). Do you agree with this?

My uncle told me once that everyone has 2 guardian angels and now according to this website that answers your questions about the bible says that it does not say anywhere in the bible that we all have guardian angels. There are angels and they might be sent to us if we need them but other than that there are no angels watching over us all the time. What about children? I thought they at least would have guardian angels. So what gives?

It's really hard to describe how shocked I am right now. I had just dwonloaded the power rangers SPD theme song, and I went to "Downloads" to get it. There were two files "Download and downloads" I went to the first, and opened this Microsoft Word file of my Dad's. It was called sorry. It was written in Arabic. I can read enough to know whati t was. A sex story. Not only that, but gay sex. He's married to my birth mom,. and he has two daughters, my sisters. It seemed like a true story, but I have no idea. It just. my heart went all crazy, in a bad way. It's basically him sleeping and then getting woken up by his real life workmate, Saleh, and then. getting it on. Yuck. What should I do?

I hate that word! People don't understand. A religion is defined as a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

This sound like a club or organization! Christianity is the relationship with God. Without all of the dumb rules and crap, It comes down to a relationship between God and his children. I hope you understand what i am saying..

After considering the above, anyone else hate the word religion?

Since being on this forum, I have recently picked up the bible again. Why because I needed to know if the way I perceived the bible to be as a child, had changed for me as an adult. It didnt.
I still saw the same message holding true in any religious faith.
But what did surprise me was this.
If there are scriptures in the bible that state
Man will be persecuted for his beliefs, and deemed evil in my name, my name being god. I wondered what does this mean?
Did the bible only apply to christians as christians would suggest?
If it did that would make sense, because maybe the bible was a book created to demolish the hypocricy of man, and in it's place love, and acceptance, so that you may know god.
Now I do not see the athesists calling man evil. I do not see pagans, or wiccans, or buddhists, scientologists, and of course Icould go on. BUt what I do see is the "Christians stating this, and judging in the name of god. So if hell exists will it be the christians burning?

Which were them? What happened ultimately?

In my case, my heart responds to one (Islam) and my brain to another one (Buddhism), and I am feeling kind of torn apart. The one with which I was born (Catholic) never moved me.

I guess that's what happens when you start reading too much, huh? Anycase, I shall be grateful for any experience you want to share with me.

Does anyone know of any dual langauge (English/Spanish) elementary schools in the TN,NC,VA mountain areas?
My family would like to move somewhere in the scenic mountains of Tennessee, North Carolina, or Virginia. I would love for my daughter to have the benefit of a dual language education. Does anyone know of a dual language school (English/Spanish) in a Southeast mountain area? I have found several dual language schools in those states but none in the mountain areas. Any info would be appreciated.

Just for the record , when I have asked this type of question before I have received several hateful , ignorant , and racist"LEARN ENGLISH OR GO BACK TO MEXICO BEANER!!!!!!" type replies. Although I am part Hispanic, I am not Mexican. I am a fluent English speaker and a semi-fluent Spanish speaker. I would like for my daughter to be fluently bilingual to preserve our heritage as well as give her a career advantage.

The earliest certain observance of a feast in honor of all the saints is an early fourth-century commemoration of "all the martyrs." In the early seventh century, after successive waves of invaders plundered the catacombs, Pope Boniface IV gathered up some 28 wagonloads of bones and reinterred them beneath the Pantheon, a Roman temple dedicated to all the gods. The pope rededicated the shrine as a Christian church. According to Venerable Bede, the pope intended "that the memory of all the saints might in the future be honored in the place which had formerly been dedicated to the worship not of gods but of demons

My girlfriend's dad is a Mormon and comes from a lineage of Mormons going back several generations. I am a little apprehensive about asking him too many questions about his religion because I don't want to get wrapped up in a religious discussion with him without knowing a little more about his beliefs. Also, I'm interested in knowing more about their beliefs and customs so that I don't accidentally do or say anything offensive when I am in his home. Can anyone give me a quick rundown on what I might need to know about the Mormons in order better understand the background of my girlfriend's family? By the way....although she was raised in this family, my girlfriend is not a practicing Mormon. I know very little about Mormons and simply wish to gain a little knowledge in order to practice good "etiquett" when interacting with her father. Thanks for any info you guys can help me with.
