I think it is tacky. Use them for something else. I think if you are giving a gift from the wrapping to the present it should say something about the person your giving it to. When you re-use the gift bag it's like not putting any thought behind it. Your looking for a cheap easy way to give a gift. It might not mean that much to most people but when you put thought in to something it becomes special to the receiver. Just my thought.

I reuse the bows, and plain wrapping paper, too. Just make sure you do not give the bag to someone that will be offended, if you accidently give them the same bag back that they gave you [that happened]. The darn glue on the bows do not always stick to the package, anyway, and have to be taped, so why not reuse them, with a little tape? My Mom saved the paper off of larger packages, for smaller ones, she carefully folded the paper on the existing folds from the previous package, and stuck it in her wrapping paper drawer.
I see gift bags being used as lunch bags at work, and as tote bags. I use the ones that are a little worse for wear as storage for small items.
My parents had an anniversary, and I was working, and finally had a good paying job. I wanted to give them a check to spend on vacation, and give it to them on the plane going to Vegas. But my Mom thinks there must always be a present to unwrap. so, I went to Hallmark, and bought paper and a big, expensive bow, and a nice card, and put a envelpe with the check inside the box, and wrapped it. My Mom had a fit because the wrapping was so expensive. She carried that bow off the plane, to the hotel, and back home, undamaged, and gave it back to me on a present my next birthday. Dad got it back on Father's day, and on and on.When Mom died, there was the bow, in her wrapping paper drawer. My Mom had a weird sense of humor, I should have buried the bow with her, she would have thought it was funny!
Strange how a simple bow turned into an event lasting for years, an fondly remembered after many years.
So recycle those bags, bows, and papers.

Heck no. I think the reason why gift bags are around is to reuse them for giving gifts. If the bag is really personalized to you don't give it back to the same person but you should re-use them to give to others.

I too reuse them. Who is going to know anyway as long as you take off the old name tag! Do buy new paper to put inside, it's cheap, comes in so many colors and dresses it up and do add ribbon. So, start with the bag, dress it up and it says you put some thought into wrapping the gift.

Heck yeah. I know people that re-use wrapping paper (not me, though). It saves paper, money, and time to re-use gift bags. Heck, I know a lot of people that re-gift, too.

As long as they're still in great shape why not? Those things are expensive and there's nothing wrong with recycling no matter what the celebration My family does this all the time and none of us are offended by it.

Absolutely not!! Those little suckers are expensive. You are saving money and recycling. Just make sure you remove the little cards that are often times attached to the bag handles....

no i think it is a good idea because if you already have some then what is the point of going out and buying something that you really dont need to buy. besides how are people gonna know if you re-used them or went out to buy them

As long as they are in "new" condition, by all means, re-use them! I do the same as long as the bag does not have visible signs of use.
