Folks , " Artimis " is one of most famouse goddesses of the world ; but we can't realy decide what her name means , where it's coming from . I guess that's why history is difficult to say something about !

Artemis(Άρτεμης):it comes either from artemis(αρτεμής) that means healthy or from artios(άρτιος) which means whole because she was helping for the delivery of healthy(whole) children.Or from air(αήρ) and temno/τέμνω which means cut, divide, because she was dividing the air like the moon.Or from the word artemis/αρτεμίς that means intact/entouched because she was a virgin

Αρτεμις (Artemis) was the huntress goddess.
The name itself could be derived from αρτεμης (artemes) meaning safe and sound but the LSJ Lexicon suggests it is more likely to be from αρταμος (artamos) meaning "butcher".

I believe it means "hunter".

Yep - here is what Wikipedia has to say:
Artemis was the virgin goddess of the hunt, wild animals, wilderness, moon, and safety in childbirth.
-----------
And also:
There may be some connection with the Greek αρτεμης = "safe and sound" from the root αρ = "to fit".

I am not totally sure if it means "huntress" or "goddess of the moon".
