Racism is a problem that causes discord in a society. As a result, some call it a "social disease". Islamic teachings likewise instructs Muslims to believe they are superior to others, in this case, the non-muslim/infidel/unbeliever/kafir or Dhimmis (see Wikipedia article below).

So whats the difference between believing someone is inferior to you because of their race or religion? Is there one? If there is not, could we also classify any belief that propogates this bigotry as a "social disease"?

FYI: I reject all religions, so if you wanna say "xianty is just like that too!!", and pass it of as a justification to muslims, feel free Einstein.

Dhimmis (non-muslims): Negative attitudes towards Dhimmis existed partly due to the "normal" feelings of a dominant group towards subject groups, partly due to the contempt Muslims have for those who they perceive have willfully chosen to refuse to refuse to accept the truth (convert to Islam) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhimmi

The Caesars declared themselves GOD. The Romans were easy with elevating JESUS (a mortal man) to GOD status. For the Jews this practice was an abomination.

it seems that religion is becoming a larger topic of conversation everyday in my household. i try to avoid it as much as possible, but now my mom is telling me that i need to get baptised. i'm also pretty disheartend to listen to my otherwise completely rational and ferociously intelligent mother abandon all reason to find purpose behind uncontrollable events. i guess if it helps her stay sane then she can believe whatever she wants, she deserves at least that much and i love her. i just don't know what she hopes to accomplish by getting me baptised. i'm sorry, but i don't see how some magic water is going to "purify my soul" or whatever it's supposed to do.
another problem i have to deal with is my grandmother for she is a deeply pious woman and i don't think i can handle letting her down like that. i guess i just won't tell her.
so my question to you is: how did you telly your parents and how should i go about doing it?

Pretend that your 10. It's Halloween, and you decide that you don't want to go trick or treating. But later in the day, your friends convince you to go with them. 1.) YOu didn't buy a costume because at first you weren't going trick or treating,2.) YOu don't know if your parents will say if you can go.3) Your afraid of clowns. WHat would you do?(My friends asked me this question)

Okay, obviously it wasn't Satan as I'm told that's Hebrew (or a romanisation of the hebrew word) for enemy. It's not Lucifer either as that's Latin for Light-bringer and didn't get associated with Satan 'til the middle ages.

Can anyone help here?

If you move from one country to another when you are a child, how old do you have to be when you move, to never lose your original accent?

Assuming both countries speak the same language, like someone moves from Ireland to the U.S. for example. And is that age different than if you have to learn a new language (example, from Spain to U.S.)?

Just curious; thanks!

Now before you launch into a fit about how materialistic you think I am, I want you to consider something. As you sit there in your outrage, thinking 'I don't go out with people because of their money!' ask yourself when you last went out with a homeless, smelly or unkempt person. Never? Well, let me tell you why. Soap costs money. Shampoo costs money. Deodorant costs money. Haircuts cost money. Clothes cost money. Food costs money. A house or flat (even a crappy rental) costs money. Getting the picture? Now, not that many of us are running around singing 'Material Girl' as our anthems, but let's face it - money may not the be all and end all, but it's not irrelevant, either.

Looking for an idea for a halloween costume (Male). Looking for something simple, I want to be able to move around and sit easily, but I want it to be something people will talk about. I also don't want to paint my face. Anyone have any ideas
