The very large majority are obviously not only against this idea, but many shocked by the thought. Why then are so many against gay and lesbian marriage?

This question was posted here because I could not post it in politics as intended.

Let me also make this clear. It was not intended to hurt anyone, and I apologize if it was taken as such by anyone. Peace

No I wouldnt, but I would still be concerned and maybe a bit sad. Im bisexual so this isnt gay bashing.. but I would still like for my children (that I may have some day) be heterosexual if not only because I dont think alternative lifestlyes will be accepted by the majority any time soon. My mother was pretty upset when I came out to her... but she is much better with it now. I think good parents just dont want to see thier children hurt and homosexuality still causes issues with a lot of people. But I would still love my children no doubt, it would definitely take more than their sex life to change that.

Consider the cite you are on, obviously LGBTs would not disown our kids for being who they are. We would also not object to being allowed basic human rights, such as the right to the same legal protections and benefits allowed to straight couples who marry. Why would you post such a question here?

No way! A parents' love doesn't stop because the child isn't who they expect or want them to be. I feel sorry for anyone who is so petty and wounded that they would turn their back on such a deep relationship over this issue. What a horrible parent that would be!

Any "person" (and I use that term in the loosest sense of the word because they barely rate as a human being) that would disown a child for being homosexual deserves to have ALL children removed from their care and sterilized so they can no longer produce any other children.
It is one of the most heinous and despicable of hate crimes.

What!!! disown? Crazy! But I would be concerned about his rejection in society or my son having a hard time getting along with striaght men/mocked/kicked/beaten up... the very crazy stuff... I wouldn't be as concerned for my lesbian daughter, though, because she can be more discreet, I guess. But poor sonny... I would be really concerned for his health too.. The kid would make me worry all the time

I don't have to think about it,the answer is never.
What ever the child do, the parents and children relationship is stronger than anythhing else.
There will be ex BF/GF, Ex Wife/Husband, but there will never be ex Son OR Daughter.
I will accept them for who they are.

Thank you to all that said they wouldn't disown their child! As a gay person, you all have warmed my heart. The choice should always be to love your child.

My child is my child, homosexual or not. I would be hurt though because it is not the ideal life that I have imagined for my child. If that is the worst thing that I have to worry about when it comes to my kids, then I consider myself lucky.

love has no boundaries race gender age disability
your child needs your love no matter what he or she is
a child looks to the parents as a guidance to the rest of the world
i would tell my child i love them
even if i did not agree with what they where doing that would be the only important thing
to disown you child the one thing you have made
means you are killing part of your self
i could not do it and i would not
