My friend mentioned that he's wearing a pirate costume for Hallowe'en. Another friend cautioned him, saying "you know, if you wear pirate gear, you're telling people that you're gay". Well, I had never heard this before, but if anyone knows it's you folks here. So is it true? Is a pirate costume on a man a code for gayness, like an earring in his right ear? Or is it just another silly rumor?

Thanks!

My neighbours asked me to feed their cat and dog, and water their plants while they were away over a four day period, twice a day. They gave me $25 for the job, but my mum says I'm not to accept money for helping neigbours. I tried giving it back twice, than accepting only $5, but he said that it would have been more expensive to get someone else to water the plants, and hand the pets over to the catery.

I only make $5 an hour when I babysit, but it probably took me an hour at the most to do all the chores they set.

I have tried returning the money on previous ocassions but it just ended up back in my pocket. My mum got really mad at me, and embarrassed me infront of them.

Did I do the right thing, or was I rude? I have a book on Manners, and it said after the second time, if they still offer something you should accept it.

Help?

I feel religion caused us to question our actions and feel there was more to life than living from one day to the next.

We were considered barbarians before religion free to kill, rape and rob as we much as we wanted in order to live.

Philosophy, Arts, Music, Architecture and Civilization rose up because of religion.

Would we still be Barbarics trying to live from one day to the next basically as cavemen in this day and age without it?

Is there anything else that would have caused us to change our ways to become what we are today?

Genesis 18: 1-15, recounts the meeting of The Lord and Abraham. Sarah prepares a meal of cakes, a tender calf, butter and milk, and [THEY] 3 [MEN], The Lord, did eat. It was the Lord, according to verse 13-14. 18:13 And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old ?
18:14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

Question: Did the Lord eat earthly food? † smile.

I want to believe in the god of the bible, but....

I go to church because I like to hear the stories. They are fun, and pastors and sunday school teachers are better story tellers than the ladies at the library. Most of them believe it. Hm, fun.

Why is it that americans can't speak english, even though they claim that they do?
Why do they pronounce "Aluminium" as "A-LOO-ME-NUM"?
Why can't they say the name of any middle-eastern country that starts with the letter "I" (eye-raq, eye-ran) properly, except for
eye-srael?
Why do they pronounce the word "wanker" so that it sounds indistinguishable from "Bush"?

I work at a Subway (in a building from the early 1900's) and found antique ceiling tiles with their "square and compass" symbols on them... this made me curious about what the freemasons are.

When someone steals it is an action. I love you, I just hate that you steal is saying you love the person and adding a comment about an action… unless the thief defines his core self/soul as thief, in which case the cliché is saying, I love you, but I hate you, too (i.e passive-aggressive).

Although not a sin example, when you tell a blind man that you hate that he is blind, since blindness is a central part of who he is, hating his blindness is also saying that you hate a part of him. Makes sense?

If you have people in your life that you care about who are gay, every time you say that cliché, you are also saying that you hate part of the person. It is passive-aggressive, even if you do not intend it as such. It is.

Does this help explain why the cliche is considered by many as a backhanded insult?

for the not so advanced: Why do you need to believe in fairy tails and flat out deny reality rather then simply accepting objective reality? Is the concept of death so frightning you need a mythological construct (Religion) or where you raised with it and are too scared to learn the facts of what you have been tought by out side resources?
