We have a big family get together every Christmas. I need help thinking of decoration ideas for Christmas. we already hang snowflakes rom the ceiling and dust the carpet with fake snow. Any other ideas?

Here's a conversation I had lately (paraphrased):

Me: How do you know god exists?

Chrstian friend: I see him in everything around me, and know in my heart that he exists.

Me: If that is so, then why do I not see him in everything and know in my heart that he exists?

Slightly annoyed christian friend: You must actively believe and attempt to seek him first.

Me: So, to acknowledge god's existence, basically to believe in him, I have to believe in him first? That sounds like circular reasoning to me.

Angry Christian ex-friend: You'll see one day!

Me: Yes, but when?

Angry hostile Christian ex-friend: when your burning in hell for eternity! [storms off]

Me: which raises another question.... why would an all loving god send me to hell for not believing in him?

Angry hostile Christian ex-friend: Silence unbeliever!

Okay, so maybe it didn't go exactly like that, but it's close.

Would the christians like to raise any other/new points?

What is that person going to yell out? Whatever their addiction is, or wherever their hearts lie, whatever their life depends on, is that thing going to save them? Someone who smokes, are they going to scream "CIGARETTE!" (not hypocritical, I'm still smoking while in the quitting process) Someone who's co-dependent with their boyfriend/girlfriend, are they going to call out their girlfriend/boyfriends name to help them? A person or an object isn't going to be able to save them from that situation, or stop that car...only God could save them from that right?

Yes, there are complete bigots out there, and we all know who they are. But if we stop paying attention to them (I know, I'm gulity of paying attention to OLGA), they'll probably go away. Let's all be allies this week, ok? Or at the very least keep the hate to ourselves.

I am going to write an article for my school paper about Jewish identity and especially on how certain people think Jewish people "should" look (like most people don't think blacks or asians "look" Jewish) . I have interviewed a couple of people about how they either

a) get asked if they are Jewish but they aren't

b) are Jewish, but when they tell others people say "but you don't "look" Jewish


I'd appreciate any anecdotes or help! thanks! The article is due on Friday.

Simple enough question,but I've never been able to figure out WHY someone would WANT to take another persons life.Theres an aweful story in the UK today about a boy,14 at the time,butchering a young lad of 11.WHY? The cops don't know.They are baffled as to the motive.
So does anyone have any idea what it is that makes us humans the only speicies on the planet that kills for the hell of it?

How would God want husbands to treat their wives?
Shouldn’t husbands be the band that holds families together? Wouldn’t true religion train husbands to “love their wives as their own bodies?” Wouldn’t women wanting to please God treat their husbands with “deep respect ?” Knowing this is the will of God. And teach children to “be obedient to their parents.”
In addition, those entrusted with positions of authority must have exemplary morals? 1 Tim 3:1-10
If we are to look up to people with positions of authority and they don’t exhibit high morals such as political leaders or religious leaders what kind of a message is that sending to our children?
They insist that we say “One country under God.” On the money it says, “In God we trust.”
This does not apply to the rich and powerful? If they don’t mean it should they say it?
Or more importantly make everyone say it? Would that make you a hypocrite?

Don't say Jesus is God, because he isn't, in the Bible Jesus worshiped God.

Jesus (pbuh) and his disciples were practising jews. No jew in the history of humanity has said the God of the Torah is part of a trinity. Please research the history of early Christianity. Initially Christians were unitarian...The trinity came about due to the influence of greek and roman methology under the Roman Empire.

Does it not seem strange that NO Prophet in the OT ever mentioned the trinity>?
This is your cue to say..'God said he made man in OUR image'. Dont forget that God is also referred to as HE not THEY. The Queen of England refers to herself as WE...its to show importance.
