What is that person going to yell out? Whatever their addiction is, or wherever their hearts lie, whatever their life depends on, is that thing going to save them? Someone who smokes, are they going to scream "CIGARETTE!" (not hypocritical, I'm still smoking while in the quitting process) Someone who's co-dependent with their boyfriend/girlfriend, are they going to call out their girlfriend/boyfriends name to help them? A person or an object isn't going to be able to save them from that situation, or stop that car...only God could save them from that right?

Nooo. When in an accident, I don't call to anyone. I try to brace myself, and get as much control over the situation as possible by real methods, not yelling to Zeus, Allah, or the tooth fairy. I had a friend recently get caught in a burst of rain doing 80 on a road. His car flipped, and rolled down a hill. It went so fast he did not know it was happening till it ended. Your story could easily be turned around to show that only you can save yourself, and not mythological beings.

I was 7 months pregnant with my oldest (don't let the avatar throw you) when we flipped the car and took out the fence at the local lumber yard. I know that I remained absolutely silent. Not everyone screams. Not everyone believes in God, and few true atheists would call on him in times of trouble. If they did, then those people would not be atheists, would they?

To be frank, when my car flipped over and slid on the road on the roof of my honda pilot.

My thoughts were:
1. Oh damm, here we.
and
2. Take me where you may.

That was it. I did not ask to be saved, I did not plead, I did not cry and I did not whine.

I was prepared!

I'm an agnostic and I do not call out to any deity whom may even not exist, in times of trouble. What I can deal with I deal with myself and otherwise what happens happens and I will deal with it afterwards.

People get irrational when they're scared. That's just how it goes.
