People need to grow up and let others have their opinions. My question about concern for our southern border was removed becasue it was "offensive". It only shows that very few people love America anymore because they don't care if people come in an make it a third world country. Does anyone else on here still love America? It is still the greatest country but we really deserve to lose our freedom and have our country brought down and turned into a sewer because our residents no longer want freedom, so we deserve to be destroyed and it is only by God's grace that he has'nt done it yet but it will probably happen soon and sadly we deserve it. Shame on those who hate America

that many of the non-believers have avatars that are either of sex, devil, demons, and other sick pictures?

I think it's interesting that many believers here see themselves with higher esteem or more self respect and aren't using avatars to gain attention from others. Non-believers use avatars that resemble hate, anger, sex, evil etc. Just a thought.

(I know the non-believers will bash me for this one but it's just a personal observation. I am putting it out there for others to think about. So calm down. I am not saying non-believers are evil or angry or full of hate. I am just wondering why the ill avatars?)

I was in my college class tonight when the guy sitting behind me kept coughing w/o covering his mouth. I politely turned and asked him to cover his mouth, because I did not want his germs. About two minutes later he coughed again w/o covering his mouth, once again I turned and asked him to cover his mouth but was rudely replied to by said guy: "To piss off!" After class I approached him outside and Physicall whipped his @$$ was I wrong, how many times do you have to politely ask people to check their manners, before you have to take action into you own hands? I don't want to hear any 'you shouldn't have done that crap'. Let me cough on you so you can feel the heat and spittle, and see how you would like it and how you would handle yourself. P.S. I cannot move, the class is full, I pay my own tuition and don't rely on mom and pop, I refuse to quit the class.

1 Corinthians 14:33-35 states, "...As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church."

This is New Testament scripture (not Old Testament) so it falls within the new covenant.

How do you interpret this passage in your Church?

Does your Church permit women to teach, lead singing, preach, fill leadership roles, pass the Lord's Supper?

If so, how do you square it with Paul's guidance?

I believe this is a legitimate issue about which many Churches struggle today.

As a non-smoker, I find that my coworkers who do smoke seem to take a lot more breaks than I do and use their smoking habit as an excuse. Do you feel companies should ban smokers from taking as many breaks as they do?

Ethnocentricity is the tendency to look at the world primarily from the perspective of one's own culture. This term was coined by William Graham Sumner, a social evolutionist and professor of Political and Social Science at Yale University. He defined it as the viewpoint that “one’s own group is the center of everything,” against which all other groups are judged. Ethnocentrism often entails the belief that one's own race or ethnic group is the most important and/or that some or all aspects of its culture are superior to those of other groups. Within this ideology, individuals will judge other groups in relation to their own particular ethnic group or culture, especially with concern to language, behaviour, customs, and religion. These ethnic distinctions and sub-divisions serve to define each ethnicity's unique cultural identity.

My patroness is Bastet. I just figured that out about a year ago, when I realized when I was young and distressed cats would follow me around as if asking to help
In July, I performed a ritual asking Bastet to help me acheive my perfect job. After following through with any task that seemed to be work related and set before me as a "I help those who help themselves ... " sort of thing, I got my job offer today and I start Monday! Wahhhoooo!
I would like to present her with an offering on her table. I was thinking catmint and a small piece of jewelry.
I'm not up of the whole Egyptian Pantheon and need some suggestions from more experienced Pagans who are
Um, can our Christian friends not suggest I find Jesus (I found him, he's been hiding behind the couch the whole time!) or that I'm going to hell? This is a serious question.
Thanks!

Views of being a chosen people are sometimes connected with ethnocentrism. The idea of a chosen people can be used to justify or create cultural imperialism, racism, and xenophobia. Some groups who have elected to think of themselves as "chosen," but who are uncomfortable with the superiority this would seem to imply, have argued that the "chosen status" by definition is a humbling one, as it carries responsibility and sacrifice, rather than simple privilege. This argument is common among traditional religious Jews and Christians alike. Another argument against the inherent moral, ethnic, or cultural polarization that can accompany the idea of chosenness is the notion that while one's own group might be chosen for one thing, it is probable that other groups are chosen for something else. This latter argument is made by some factions within Reconstructionist Judaism and other liberal or left-leaning Jewish groups.
