I was in my college class tonight when the guy sitting behind me kept coughing w/o covering his mouth. I politely turned and asked him to cover his mouth, because I did not want his germs. About two minutes later he coughed again w/o covering his mouth, once again I turned and asked him to cover his mouth but was rudely replied to by said guy: "To piss off!" After class I approached him outside and Physicall whipped his @$$ was I wrong, how many times do you have to politely ask people to check their manners, before you have to take action into you own hands? I don't want to hear any 'you shouldn't have done that crap'. Let me cough on you so you can feel the heat and spittle, and see how you would like it and how you would handle yourself. P.S. I cannot move, the class is full, I pay my own tuition and don't rely on mom and pop, I refuse to quit the class.

You were in the right and he was in the wrong. It only takes one
time to tell someone politely to cover his/her mouth when coughing. That was very rude of him and he was an *** hole.
I give you high five on opening a can of whip ***.

You may consider printing and distributing the following Q&A, a copy to the offender may improve the situation not only for him/her but also for future generations:

Quote:

Cover Your Mouth! By Diane Sacks

Q: How can I get my three-year-old to cover her mouth when she coughs? I have to remind her time and time again. I realize she's sick, but I don't want the whole household to get another cold.

A: As you know, the best way to teach behaviour is by modelling it. Make certain all the adults in the house cover their mouths when they cough. And don't forget to praise your daughter when she remembers or even almost remembers. In theory, you should get your child to cover her mouth with the back of her hand, but in my experience - especially with young kids - she'll remember to do this only if the back of her hand is covered in chocolate!

Don't forget handwashing and maybe even separate towels and glasses. Also, if your three-year-old is in a daycare setting with more than two other children, the spread of germs may be something of a losing battle. This doesn't mean you shouldn't teach her appropriate and considerate health habits, but you may not be able to keep the numerous viruses away.

I understand how you feel about being coughed on. It is the one thing that I have absolutely no patience with. Germs are nasty and I don't want to share them with the people who are spewing them in the air at me. Although I think getting his germs on you by fighting with him wasn't a good idea I understand what drove you to do it. Maybe next time he will cover is mouth like he was asked nicely to do.

UGH, I hate it when ppl cough and dont cover their mouth. They should actually use their shirt sleeve instead of their hand, cuz after theyve coughed into their hand, then they touch everything, then everyone else touches it too.

I dont blame you one bit. I would have asked him politely and I also would have kicked his @$$. Hes an idiot for one, you found that out. AND hes just a jerk, you found that out too. As long as this guy is sick, all you can do, is....dont look in his direction. Keep your face turned away from him. I know its hard when you cant move....youre stuck. Keep your hands away from your face. Hopefully you wont get his funk.

Good for you, I hate when people don't cover their mouth. Do they know how many germs they are spreading? It is nasty. He should have complied with your polite request, it's not that big of a deal to cover your mouth. He is just a jerk. Good for you, people need to take a stand.

It is bad manners to cough without covering the mouth. It does not sound pleasant, also not good for health

I feel like slapping them across their face.
Thanks for kicking his asss - now I won't have to.
You give the benefit of the doubt the first time, and you ask politely - after that you give them something to remember. The next time this jerkoff wants to be so rude, he will probably think to himself "should I cover my mouth or maybe risk another asss whoopin " !
Good for you !

It is very rude to cough and not cover your mouth, but it does happen. You did the right thing and asked politley, when he did not do it, you should have moved seats....

You know my brother in law does this and alot of times while we are out eating which REALLY makes me mad. There isn't much to do but maybe make a face and say "huh!" Then again you could always cough back on them.
