Whenever I ask someone that, they always say emo's are just plain weird, and why does everyone talk about them so much?

Some people have something in their life that they aren't happy with, so they have to make others miserable. Others don't believe in giving someone outside their "clique" a chance. We all have the right to express ourselves the way we feel is best.

Society loves when everyone fits in. It seems to me that emo's have evolved part gothic, part rocker. Let me ask you, is it because your parents didn't like you wearing all black and being an emo is like gothic light? Either of these groups seem to enjoy being a bit gloomy in their outward appearence, and don't follow a dress standard seen on your standard tv commercials. If you're not Hollywood, you must be weird right? Wrong. If you are comfortable dressing and acting 'emo' then rock on in your own way. If you choose not to smile, ask yourself why. It is 100% true that smiling lifts your whole feeling of happiness. No one wakes up 100% happy everyday and if you are dressing emo, because that's how you feel, it's like wearing a dark cloud every day. I say break out now and again and put on that pink smiling skull t-shirt - it won't hurt anyone, and it might actually let you crack a smile when no one is looking. Bottom line. Emo's choose to be different, so if someone is calling you weird - then embrace your weirdness! You are an individual - no go individualize yourself, your music, your clothing, your hair, but PLEASE try to smile now and again. . . .

probably because they dress different and act different it is done in our society to anyone that doesn't fit our perception of normal Judge not and ye shall not be Judged emo stands for emotion and pertains to punk rock bands for the most part
