I've had a friend that I've become close to over the last few years. She started off giving me gifts for my birthday and Christmas, every year since we met, so I did the same. We live close and didn't have any sort of fight, but lately she has been more distant except for a few emails here and there. She actually did email me on my birthday, but it was about something else altogether and she didn't even mention my birthday. I cannot believe she forgot because hers is in the same month.

Should I ask her why she didn't even acknowledge my birthday and why she's been acting so aloof? I don't know if I should now mention her birthday at all...it's very awkward.

She was married in the Roman Catholic church. She drunkenly cheated on her husband of 15 years or so right away with a bunch of his friends (before the boys were born), then she cleaned her act up. Also he physically hit her on multiple times and used to always go out late and drink. Then he a few yars ago cheated on her, but a full blown affair and has been with that new girl to this day and they want to get married. So my girl filed for divorce and got it. but I started a friendship with this mom of 3 boys who was not yet divorced from her husband but they had been seperated. Then we started sleeping together. She cheated on me multiple times and I cheated once on her a month ago. We have broken up and gotten back together multiple times. We also live together with her 3 boys who every other weekend spend it with their dad. So that is the basic situation. My question is - In the eyes of God through the Orthodox church, could we be married? Could our relationship become moral?

I look over to my neighbors the other day and the kids were in the backyard burning something. They were young children so I went next door and asked if they knew what they were doing. They said yes. They were burning a Bible. Apparently she was taught to do that to old, messed up, falling apart Bibles. I was totally shocked! I did not know what to think. I feel that is horrible to burn a Bible. Has anyone ever heard of burning a old, messed up Bible? If so, let me know and what is the reason behind that? I am trying to do some research.

HI, I am Asian. I am learning English.

My teacher told me that I should choose either British or American English.

Which English should I choose?
If I learn American English first, would it be easier to learn British English later? Or, should I learn British English first?

This question may sound strange, but technically, it seems to be impossible to learn two different English at the same time, in terms of pronunciation, intonation, accent, idioms, slang, etc.

Which English should I learn first? My goal is to be fairly familiar with both of them so that I can understand CNN and BBC without any difficulties. Is it possible for a non-native speaker of English?

Not everyone can afford a car but that doesn't make them any less than anyone else. I see them standing at the store entrances when it is raining because they are afraid they will get wet walking to their care while those who walk HAVE to get wet. They have no consideration (especially suv owners) when they drive through water and splash the sidewalk where people are walking. They could slow down and be considerate. They are talking on their cellphones and trying to turn against the WALK sign and they sneer because they have to stop and let you walk by. I think it would be good for us to run out of oil for a while so that everyone would have to walk a little and maybe they would learn a little consideration. People in the citys of europe walk and it just seems like those in the US are too lazy to walk anywhere.

I see people walking. Then all of a sudden something comes over me. A rush. To just bite them.
I've also dreamed about cutting someone's eyelid off with my sisscors I bought the other day at staples. Probably cut straight accross or better yet, diagnally. My psychiatrist says its normal and I'll soon get over those thoughts? Im not saying I like those thoughts but. Does anybody feel where I'm coming from with this? Hmmmm?
