I raised Jewish. I don't believe it anymore. In fact, I don't think I ever really did. How many people really honestly believe the crap they tell other people?

Then if you gave me a bad reason then I'd stop loving you. It is neither good or bad it just is. I do not need a reason I just do. So, if I didn't inherit salvation through good works how can I lose something I never earned through bad works? Do you love with no strings attached? With no intended outcome?

I've only been to church twice in my life. I want to start going again, but i'm scared. i've sinned so bad and I'm scared God wont want me. I heard that God forgives all is this true? And if it is how? I believe in God but I know close to nothing about him or the bible. is it normal to be scared to go to church?

Psalm 14 (New International Version)
" 5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread,
for God is present in the company of the righteous. "

Psalms 14 appears to be speaking of Atheists, if this is the case I am not overwhelmed with dread. To me that is a contradiction.. unless I am not reading it correctly.

If my parents both had different upbringings and were educated differently and one word may have a different meaning to each of them why fuss over words? If a word has special meaning to me and not to you does there have to be only one definition? If I were to call you a name and you reacted to it then you must believe that about yourself. It is only a word, like a cuss word is only a word but we give so much power over to it. What if we didn't react but understood that words mean different things to different people. Isn't that what makes life so fun we share our differences in common?

Superstition:
1 a : a belief or practice resulting from ignorance, fear of the unknown, trust in magic or chance, or a false conception of causation b : an irrational abject attitude of mind toward the supernatural, nature, or God resulting from superstition
2 : a notion maintained despite evidence to the contrary

There have been numerous scientific studies about prayer and if it is effective. The results show time and time again that praying to a "god" has THE SAME EXACT ODDS of actually working as rubbing a buhhda's belly or holding a "lucky" rabbits foot.

According to the definition, isn't prayer a superstition?

If no, please explain how it differs from superstition.

For example... Americans call their big brothers "Bubba" etc... Japanese call theirs "Aniki or Onihchamn". I want a list of such terms and if they are gender specific, I want the younger sister to older brother version(s). In Spanish, the word brother is hermano, but a little sister doesn't call her older brother "Hermano". I want the slang-like nicknames that are used by peoples of the world. But I want commonly accepted ones. Not local dialect or one-family specific ones. Any language and the more you give me that can be easily verified, the better chance you have of being chosen for the "Best Answer" winner. I'll accept English versions too, but prefer those of OTHER languages. Being an American..., I might find those of other English-speaking nations to be unknown to me. I will consider all entries/submissions. Thank you.
