The requirements for membership are: A belief in the supreme being, mature age (18 or 21 depending on local statues), and good moral character. You must show that you are financially capable of paying the joining fee, dues and charitable contributions without harming your self or family.

You can easily find the Grand Lodge for your state in a Yahoo search and perhaps even find a web page for your local lodge. They are also listed in the phone directory. You can ask the most prominent leaders in your community, your jeweler, funeral director or pastor as they are probably members already.

Contrary to the false opinions stated above there are many Roman Catholic Freemasons but there are no conspiracies or members filled with venom. If you want to be a leader like Washington, Franklin, Patton, MacArthur, FDR, or Teddy Roosevelt align yourself with the Freemasons in your community.

Call the local Masons lodge, they will be listed in the phone book. They will give you all the info you need and might even have you attend a general meeting. Some secret society eh? Just be careful you are not calling the mason's union hall, that is the brick laying people in construction.

To become one, you have to study a book they give you and then you have to take a test on it. I don't know you, so I don't know if you have what it takes to be accepted, but if you feel that you are a responsible person and that you want to do this, chances are you do have what it takes. My grandfather was the head of the Manhattan local chapter in his day. He still wears the ring. It's a really special group. I wish you the best of luck and I'm sure you'll make it!

If you aren't related to one, then chances of getting in are pretty slim. And not only do you have to be related to a mason, but they also have to be (or been) a mason in good standing. So, do some research and find out if you had a mason grandfather or something.
