I mean "ask and ye shall recieve". Why dont you just pray to Jesus to convert us all instantaneously, OR if thats not what you want.( because of obvious overcrowding in heaven) Then Pray that we all dissappear. I'll give ya 30 minutes

I've noticed that a large number of words are capitalized in the German language. I'm not German and can't read it either, but I just always wondered why so many words start with a capital letter, even if they are not 'proper nouns'?

Thanx :)

So I'm not really out at work, no need to be right? Not!!! I have a few friends at work who know that I am gay and living with my fiancee, however my boss and my direct superiors do not know. I'm getting married in approxiametly 6 months and I really want to just let it be known that I'm getting married. I will no longer be the single girl at work with no kids. However my problem is this, when I first started working here I heard my boss say some derrogatory things about gays so I never told her of my sexual orientation, but now that I am getting married I want the world to know, just like when heteros get married. What should I do?

This is not poetic question. I realize many verses in the Quran that assume that people really "THINK" with their hearts [7:179; 22:46; 6:25; 16:22; 63:3]. In the beginning I thought it was just poetic expression, but there are two facts that make me think that prophet Muhammed really thought that people really 'THINK' with their hearts:

1- The first fact is that the common belief among people by the time was that mental activity took place in the heart, until Vesalius proved that theory to be wrong in 16th century (about thousand years after the death of prophet Muhammed).

2- The second fact is that there is NO SINGLE WORD in the Quran that says that people think with their minds (or brains).

Did prophet Muhammed really think that all mental activities took place in the heart rather than the brain?

If we believe in the Bible, that means we're stupid.
If we don't, we're contradicting ourselves.

If we preach against sin, we're being judgemental.
If we allow our congregations to do just as they please, we're hypocrits.

If we keep homosexuals out of the clergy, we're gay bashing.
If we allow homosexuals into the clergy, we're putting our children in danger.

If we're educated on other religions, we have a hidden agenda.
If we're not, it means we're narrowminded.

If we're poor, that's proof God won't bless us.
If we're rich, we're snobby.

I'd like some nonbelievers to tell me exactly how you think Christians should act.

Capital assets, resources, funds, wealth, money, principal, investment! Is religon the true thing or are the more gullible being used? Are the modern people, corupted by money and greed, actually teaching you the right thing because they believe it or are they fooling you for the profits? Are the innocent used for a profit?

I've seen people say this, and then quote a Bible verse almost word for word as something they believe. I understand not believing in God, but I think the Bible has a lot of wisdom and truth in how it instructs people to live. Many people agree with this, calling the Bible a great book of wisdom, or Jesus, a great teacher.

Shahi Bukhari: Vol 4, Book 55. Prophets.
Hadith 647.
Narrated By Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "I met Moses on the night of my Ascension to heaven." The Prophet then described him saying, as I think, "He was a tall person with lank hair as if he belonged to the people of the tribe of Shanu's.' The Prophet further said, "I met Jesus." The Prophet described him saying, "He was one of moderate height and was red-faced as if he had just come out of a bathroom. I saw Abraham whom I resembled more than any of his children did." The Prophet further said, "(That night) I was given two cups; one full of milk and the other full of wine. I was asked to take either of them which I liked, and I took the milk and drank it. On that it was said to me, 'You have taken the right path (religion). If you had taken the wine, your (Muslim) nation would have gone astray."

explain to me why that even with all the evidence and logical explanations some ppl still believes in the stories in the bible. even if god did exist(which i doubt), why not see the reality...why choose the easy option of saying that he did that or he can do the impossible, why not squeeze your brains to get the logical thread about things and find the sense and meaning of things.why?

Let us assume for a moment, that there is in fact the Christian God. Let us further assume that the Bible is an accurate record of events. Let us further assume that Satan is real, and that logic and reason and science are tools he uses,

so for example, carbon dating, what if that is Satan, what if Satan was using his appendage to play with the needle, to purposefully confuse mankind, to seperate us from God.

So what test would we be able to run to see if we are pawns of Satan? What do you propose we do?

Is Satan, using his appendages, to confuse our brain, so we don't see the obvious, that there is a God? Do we look at baby's faces and does Satan put up a mask so that we don't see God?

What test could we run? Could we collectively pray to Jesus for him to heal amputees, to glorify Jesus, sincerely pray in Jesus's name?

Self-described agnostics often criticize atheism as an untenable position, because nobody has proof that God does or doesn't exist. Thus, they leave God's existence as an open question. But we make common-sense judgements all the time without proof. For example, nobody can prove that Santa Claus doesn't exist, but adults don't consider it an open question, on common sense grounds. Likewise, common sense suggests that every religion makes up its own idea of God (or gods) and none of them is likely to be true. Why do you still leave the question open?

Believers, please don't try to convince me that God exists. That's not the dialogue I want to have here, and I will ignore you.

Religion was created by mankind as a way for primitive cultures to explain the unknown. Now that we are able to answer many of these questions, don't you think it would be best to do away with religious belief? Why or why not?

OK if it's not your first language I can understand, but most people use their regional yahoo domain e.g answers.yahoo.fr for France.

Some are just completely baffling with the actual question completely obfuscated by English so badly that a monkey and a typewriter could have made more sense.

Also, most are just posted in completely the wrong category. Programming and Design is a particularly bad offender. Asking opionions of how your website looks or why your computer doesn't have sound has absolutely nothing to do with programming.

If you are one of those people, I'd highly recommend:
dictionary.com http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/ google.com
I wonder how many 'Yahooers' have ended up on http://www.engrish.com/

Please comment on the following?

World population growth rate in recent times is about 2% per year. Practicable application of growth rate throughout human history would be about half that number. Wars, disease, famine, etc. have wiped out approximately one third of the population on average every 82 years. Starting with eight people, and applying these growth rates since the Flood of Noah's day (about 4500 years ago) would give a total human population at just under six billion people. However, application on an evolutionary time scale runs into major difficulties. Starting with one "couple" just 41,000 years ago would give us a total population of 2 x 1089. 9 The universe does not have space to hold so many bodies.

If consequences dictate Christian morality, then it doesn't matter what right, as long as they don't get caught. Is this the case, or do you, like Atheists, answer your conscience as well?

2006-10-06 05:30:36 · 8 answers · asked by Anonymous in Religion & Spirituality

Ive heard Christians that state that if we take current population rates and extrapolate the numbers backwards, we find that only two people were living approximately 6300 years ago.

So, I sat down and I did the math. You know what? You people are right - sure enough, if we take current population rate changes and extrapolate backwards, there is only two people living in 4300BCE.... So you must be correct, right?!?!?!

Well, I found one slight problem with the math on this one: When I extrapolate back to 2600BCE, the number is 600 people in the entire world. Known history states that there were florishing civilizations in Egypt, Sumner, Babylon, Indus Valley and China at that time. If we generously give Egypt 1/6 of the worlds population in 2600BCE, that means that 100 people built the pyramids and all other ancient structures in Egypt....

Can you see now that the earth being only 6300 years old is absolutely ridiculous and based upon false mathematical principles???

I'm a little sick of all the bashing and hating going on here. Let's try something new.

Please, do one of the following:

Either state something nice about a religion or belief opposit of yours. (I find it refreshing that some pagans can see things from many points of view)
Or, say something nice about someone on this board who believes differently from you. (I respect Southpaw and Spooky because they show respect for all religions on this board and ask thought-provoking questions)

Oh, and if you're just going to bash someone, don't bother answering. Serious, nice answers only, please.

I think satan wins hands down.

This is obviously a hypothetical question, I am an atheist, I don;t believe in either, but i still think that if satan were real, he would have much more interesting things to talk about.
