This is not poetic question. I realize many verses in the Quran that assume that people really "THINK" with their hearts [7:179; 22:46; 6:25; 16:22; 63:3]. In the beginning I thought it was just poetic expression, but there are two facts that make me think that prophet Muhammed really thought that people really 'THINK' with their hearts:

1- The first fact is that the common belief among people by the time was that mental activity took place in the heart, until Vesalius proved that theory to be wrong in 16th century (about thousand years after the death of prophet Muhammed).

2- The second fact is that there is NO SINGLE WORD in the Quran that says that people think with their minds (or brains).

Did prophet Muhammed really think that all mental activities took place in the heart rather than the brain?

The problem is you are using English words in place of Arabic words. When you translate from language to the next you have a choice of words.
And some words have positive/negative connotations in one language that don't in another.

Read information wherever you can find it.

Its also well known that the Qur'an establishes hundreds of scientific facts way before their time. From human anatomy, to plate tectonics and even the universe itself.

The Holy Qura'an mentioned the mind more than it did the heart
I don't wanna call u names or accuse u of malicious lying, on the contrary, I will be exceptionally polite.
The Arabic word "يعقل" = 'understand' is a verb derived from the Arabic noun "عقل" = 'mind'. This very word was repeated over and over in the Holy Qura'an because it's a book that speaks primarily to people's minds

yeah right. the Quran is full of mind. but the Quran is very accurate, it attached the word mind with thinking in one word called "yakelon". here it's in arabic تَعْقِلُونَ . mind means "akl".
so mind + thinking = Yakelon or Takelon (تَعْقِلُونَ )

and i am sure there is connection between the brain and the heart.

And that those who have been given knowledge may know that it (this Qur'ân) is the truth from your Lord, and that they may believe therein, and their hearts may submit to it with humility. And verily, Allâh is the Guide of those who believe, to the Straight Path. (Al-Hajj 22:54)
