I believe that God has the power to do all and anything. Just because He does, doesn't mean that He will. God gives us hurdles to overcome to improve out character. I believe that many things are lives are tests. When someone goes into the fire (speaking figuratively), they will either be destroyed or come out of it stronger. The arthritis may or may not go away, but by giving God the praise, He'll help you through it. That's not to say that a doctor's visit or a change in lifestyle isn't called for, but I empathize with you! Keep up the prayers!! Your heavenly Father truly does listen!

I love how so many of the so called religious people gave such compassionate answers (sarcasm). God is not responsible for bad things, god is not responsible for good things, he does not get involved at all. I'm sorry about your arthritis but don't waste energy praying. Live your life, enjoy your moments alive. Life is a stepping stone into enlightenment. Physical pain does not last forever. Eventually we will all evolve into beings of a higher state of mind. I know its easier said than done, and I could never understand the pain that you are going through. But remain strong and good, one day we will all be one with the absolute, and your pain, my pain, every ones pain will vanish forever.

Don't give up on God just because He did not answer your prayer yet. Remember that God said "Whatsoever you ask of me in faith, it shall be given to you." If you have prayed everyday for 2 years, that means that you have great faith. Do you call the parable of the old woman who pestered a judge over and over to get justice for her son? She never gave up, so the judge gave her son the justice she requested just to get rid of her. God of course cares about you a lot and that judge did not care, But the point is that if a corrupt judge would give justice because he was relentlessly pestered, how much more would a caring God do the same? That is a good argument for repetitive prayer.

Do not give up hope. Keep praying and look for little things that God may be doing for you that you have not recognized as a part of an answer to your prayers. Sometimes He has His reasons for not doing exactly as we have asked, but does something else that only He would know is best for us. Maybe things could have gotten much worse, but have not. Maybe He wants you to offer your suffering to Him, united to His own suffering on the Cross, to bring about some good for you or for someone else. From now on, when you pray for relief of your arthritis, why don't you offer the pain to God and also say, "May Your Will be done and not mine" as Jesus prayed in the Garden. When we pray for God's Will, the results might not be what we would like, but instead something that God chooses for our own Good.

I will pray for you also everyday, I promise. Remember that God said, "Where two or more are gathered in my name, I am in their midst.".So let us pray together in Jesus' name and see what happens.

I can't say for sure, but I have arthritis in one hand, too, but I have learned that it is something I need to research about. Salt, sugar, and cold affect it, so I am learning how to take care of myself with laws of health which I was less aware of before. Sometimes what we need to pray for is what do we need to learn from this particular affliction. Some infirmities can be tempered with healing Priesthood blessings (I am a Mormon), and some infirmities are there to teach us to be humble and to get ready for the Resurrection. Sometimes physical afflictions help us focus on a different aspect of life, as well. Since my hand often bothers me when I want to play piano, I have learned to slow down and work with the other hand instead. Hopefully this kind of patience will be useful when I go to teach piano to children. I might never master a Paderewski or Chopin piece, but I can always work on simple songs for children.

Don't know. Sometimes God has to let us suffer. I'm sorry you have arthritis. It doesn't mean He does not love you. I used to pray that God would bring my wife into my life. It took 37 years until I met her. Thankfully he didn't answer my prayers when I asked him to hook me up with some of the crazy women I used to go for years ago. God will not give you more than you can handle. Seek first His kingdom.

I am not being mean when I say this but what have YOU done to rid yourself of arthritis? Disease processes are not just passive conditions that overtake us like a runaway bus. We invite them. I say this as a person who could hardly walk 6 years ago and now do pretty well for myself. I did it through positive thinking, optimism, diet change, life style change and determination. And with a help from the 'divine'.

I know how that feels, and how it makes you question your faith. I've have a condition which causes a lot of pain in my knees, and for a long time I prayed for Heavenly Father to take it away from me.

...but then some things started to happen. I had knee surgery (which didn't cure me BTW) and within 2 month of that I had a roommate break her leg, and another tear her ACL and both were on crutches, and they told me how my example of being able to function on crutches with a smile really helped them. I became aware of my own pride, and started to learn how to ask for help, I have a husband now who is made better by the chances he has to occasionally help support my weight as we walk around.

I've come to understand that as much as this trial has hurt, and caused me to cry time and time again, it has been for my spiritual benefit, and more importantly to the benefit of others around me. I've come to understand that ultimately God gave this to me as gift, and sometimes (not all the time - I'm not that good)I even manage to be grateful for it.

What I'm saying is, start praying to God to help you understand why he wants you to have this. Start trying to notice the good things that come from it in you and others.

That being said, I do encourage you to continue seeking medical help, I know exactly how it feels to have chronic pain lead to depression. And while the doctors can't cure your arthritis, they can do a lot to ease the pain. Have you tried synvisc shots? They hurt going in, but helped me a lot.

God bless you sweetie, I know you can still thrive with this.

There is a reason for everything, if god was to please everyone then this would be a perfect world. You can always rely on god to help you through tough times... he made you the way you are and maybe thats how your supposed to be, thats how he loves you. The way you are!
There are many different reasons god does what he does.

Keep Praying

This is difficult to understand, isn't it? However, not even the apostles were exempt from physical infirmities. The Apostle Paul, wrote this:

2 Corinthians 12:7-10 (New King James Version)

The Thorn in the Flesh

7 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. 8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

...God has promised to provide all of a Christian's needs (Philippians 4:19 - "And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.") - if you are a believer in Christ, and still have the arthritis, then you do not need to be rid of it right now. And it is possible that God may deliver you from it yet - only He knows His will.
...He has not promised complete physical healing to us in this life - although sometimes people are healed. I believe more often, God allows many of us to live with ailments, frailty, and hardships - He will show Himself strong and sufficient in our suffering - He is big enough to work through our suffering. Read 2 Corinthinans 12:9-11:
9 And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness " Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.
10 Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
...God's main goal for the Christian is to make each of us more like Jesus Christ.
...Read Romans 8:28-29: "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren."
...By the way, I am diabetic, 1/2 blind, I have bi-polar disorder, periodontal disease, I am 30 lbs overweight, and have bad nerves in my feet - just so you know I have my own problems.
