I often see and hear how Christians beleive that morality would cease to exist if it were not for Jesus Christ and the Church. How does one rectify that position when it comes to people such as Mark Folley?? Here is a man who was active in Church, was the Head of the Caucus for Missing and Exploited Children - and was exploiting children.

IS Folley right for blaming his actions on the fact that he was (unproven allegation, BTW) molested as a teen by a Catholic priest?? Or that he was under the influence of alcohol (apparently while on the House floor whilst voting....lovely, eh?) Perhaps aocohol and religion should be outlawed in this country, as they both seem to cause so many problems.....
Why didnt Folley just blame Satan for his actions, rather than blaming the Church and alcohol? Wouldnt that be easier for Republicans to beleive?
Actually, what I want to know is why Folley doesnt just stand up and take responsibility for his own actions....Why blame others? Coward.

Although I don't entirely agree with everything he says, I always think he makes some excellent points about religion and this article is no exception. I think it's a must-read for the people who post in this section. (People of faith, atheists and agnostics alike) Be sure to read the entire thing, as he tends to wind around to his points little by little, and you can get a false impression by just reading parts of his essays.

i posted a question about the effects halloween has on the different religions out there. ( this question has nothing to do with my OTHER question i am just making refrence )

one person said in his answer that children would taunt their parents on halloween by pretending to be demons and ghosts from " the underworld " . he said that these " demons " kidnapped their children and demanded "Treats" for there safe return. what is your opinon on that?

something else this person said was " All modern holidays can be traced back to the pegans, even Christmas and Easter" do you think this person is saying that people just make up days so they have something to celebrate? i would just love to hear other peoples opinion on all of this. is halloween ( and other holidays ) just a manufactured day?

Do you do something now or plan on doing something that will forever etch you into peoples memories as someone who had accomplished something great? That doesnt necessarily mean everyone in the world, it can be as simple as helping the elderly in your area or helping to build a park for neighborhood kids in a low income area?

I work at a hotel and I love my job. But there are pet peeves of mine that drive me up a d@mn wall! Like the fact that I say " Hello, thank you for calling..........(my place of work) my name is Tiffany, how may I help you?" The responses that I get are " Yeah how much are al yalls rooms for ........ (date)?" Not a hi or a hello but a YEAH. And then 90% of the time people never say goodbye, they just hang up! Barely a thank u or anything. And you can tel if the person is using a cordless phone or a corded phone. Because if they have a cord they SLAM the phone down. And the noise hurts my ears very badly because our phone is sensitive to loud noises.

So people please when you call any place of business to speak with an employee please please please use common phone manners like hello, goodbye, please and thank you. It really makes us less cranky to deal with and often times can make our days.

how many of you have "gotten over it"?

you know. when people talk about you just loud enough for you to hear. when your ex-friends scream "***** t" whenever you walk by...and no, they're not joking with you. when, in the locker room, people throw all sorts of dirty comments at you and refuse to get anywhere near you with their pants off (by far the most amusing to me).

how many of you have learned to SMILE and LAUGH and realize that there's no need for you to feel hurt on these morons' behalfs?

because i have. but so many people--gay, bi, straight, whatever--have not. it kinda makes me sad that these idiots actually ruin peoples' lives.

but seriously, what do i care if someone thinks i should burn in hell. that's life.

right?

I don't want to be stuck in a all white or black school. I need a mix of people. I went to Old Dominon Univeristy last week and it was pretty diverse.
