im not christian but, a symbol is just a symbol that you portray on your body. a kind of art. much to that of wearing a necklace with a cross, so would it be to draw a cross on you. if your christian then obviously no tattoos that deal in evil/death/sin/devils, but nothing wrong otherwise is my view

Well, in the Old Testament, God's people were not to get tattoos (Leviticus 19:28). But then you get the "Christian liberty" argument that we're not under the Law anymore but under grace.
How I personally feel about it is, God said the body is His temple. Jesus went through quite a lot just so the Holy Spirit could be poured out and inhabit these tabernacles made of flesh. And a tattoo, to me, is like graffiti on the temple. That's how I see it. Since you're a pastor, how would you feel if someone tagged your church building with graffiti? Would you be happy about it? If you would, then I guess it's all good. If you wouldn't be happy about it, I'm curious to know why God should be happy about someone tagging the temple of His Holy Spirit with graffiti?

I see no Biblical prohibition despite the wordings of translation so Leviticus 19:28. Personally, I find tattoos as rather banal and unsightly regardless of the artistic caliber. I'm not sure why, but I would feel hurt if my daughter got one. I'm just being honest here, that says nothing about you, your desires, or intentions. There is no accounting for taste. In your decision process, consider how is this tattoo to serve God's kingdom.
I don't like tattoos on a gut level. That likely has to do with my upbringing and the quality of people who sported tattoos when I was a kid. But I have friends with tattoos and think nothing of it. While I would not get a tattoo and would try to influence those in my household not to get one, I am perfectly content with anyone else doing as they wish, including my pastor.
I would encourage you to avoid getting one of those tattoos that you can make dance. d:c) God bless you and your service for His kingdom.

I find the stories behind people's tattoos more interesting than the art sometimes. My husband and I enjoy shows like Inked because people often get tattoos for deeply sentimental reasons and for significant life events. Bottom line, I like them.
I do think it should be between the Lord and the person getting the tattoo on whether it's an issue or not. I hope that makes sense.

The law to Moses condemned tattoos,
Since Jesus ended the law, we are not under that arrangement.
You can argue though that Jehovah's principles don't change.
But the biggest thing to consider is Paul's comment about not eating meat if it stumbled even one.
Getting a tattoo is a conscience matter, It is not wrong, but is it right?
Since it is a matter of conscience no one should judge you for having one.
But,
How do those in your congregation feel?
How would someone new to your congregation react if they came to your congregation and saw you?
Those are tough questions, unfortunately only you can answer it.

I am cool with them . I think God is cool with them Read this verse
Lev 19:28
28 "Don't gash your bodies on behalf of the dead.
"Don't tattoo yourselves. I am God.
But Jesus fufilled the law If you do what is right in Gods eyes yet have a few tatoos you have nothing to worry about

I'm sure you'll get a lot of answers to this ?, but as a pastor I'm sure you know that this is between you and God.
Out of curiosity, what is it going to show? What is your reason for getting it? It will glorify God one way or another, either by the tatoo itself glorifying Him or by Him using your unglorifying tatoo to glorify Him. Which is it? Again, just out of curiosity.

I'm a christian and I have nine but I believe that it is something that you should look at ifn what you get is gonna lead people to jesus or cause them to stumble then ask God to confirm in you what He thinks!! personally I think they are an excellent conversation starter. Differnt things for different people you just got to figure where you fit in and what's your purpose for getting them.

I'm not sure about that one. I'm a Christian and I have one myself. (I got it prior to my Christianity) I think it depends on what the tattoo is. But, doesn't the Bible say to not be vain? Ask yourself why do you want another tattoo. Who's it going to benefit?

I'm no Christian, but I once heard a Catholic priest say tatooing was a sin and had the audacity to compare it to drug abuse and alcoholism and say that tatoos "defile the bodies god gave us".
