Before people start slamming this know that I consider my self a believer in god, but when this question was asked in a philosophy class I could not answer. We know he could do it because he created heaven, so if he is all good why has he allowed evil on earth?

Freethought is a philosophical doctrine that holds that beliefs should be formed on the basis of science and logical principles and not be comprised by authority, tradition or any other dogmatic or other belief system that restricts logical reasoning. The cognitive application of freethought is known as freethinking, and practitioners of freethought are known as freethinkers.

Just saw "the gospel of wealth" on CNN. Pastor Dollar (his real name) says the Bible is a guide to wealth and requires one to aquire wealth. He quoted something in Pslams. It also said that 61% of Christians beleave this and that poverty is a curse for not obeying this gospil. What do you think about this?

Every time I am in the library, there is a different inconsiderate moron close by with headphones on, playing the most obnoxious and loud music possible. Last time I looked around at the other people by me, and said "sure is nice of him to supply the music for everyone". They all laughed, and I think he kind of guessed what was going on, because he turned his crap down a little at least.

Since two years ago, I keep all the gifts I receive in a big box and only open them after midnight of Christmas Eve.

It is so much fun.

Does reading things like "Christians fight the spirit of Satan in you" essentially make normal intelligent communication come to a halt?

And they tell me that I need the straight jacket. Hello!@

I know it's a touchy subject ... I just don't believe in following the steps created by man. That's why God gave us all a mind ... I believe God's intent was our minds to be our "religions".

he put this guy into my life. I've liked him since 8th [in 10th now] and am just now kinda starting to get over him, but it's hard. This other guy likes me and vice versa, but as for my former crush, he's served a great deal of purpose in my life......Why then did God put him in one of my classes then?

I'm sorry. I was in the military. War involves killing an enemy. Kindness is not war. Asking me to give my life to your God would be a conversion.

Its like reading George Orwell's 1984. Giving new definitions to words.

Christianity sounds like a trick. Is it a trick of the devil? Why would someone label being kind as war.

War is something very specific.

Maybe I'm just a dumb person and I don't get it.

In war there are casualities. Does this woman want those children to kill me in a war since I don't believe in Jesus?

References: Matthew 16:19's "ye" and Matthew 18:18's "thou".

Plausible Problem: "ye"("do err", "greatly", and "alway") and "thou"("vain man", wilt oft not know what they do and what they say is what brings destruction on them, and due to willing ignorance); Neither "ye"(of ye/you) nor "thou"(of thou/thee) "know" what to bind(law worketh wrath) nor what to loose(grace is sufficient) on earth to have all comfort instead of comfort(grace) & dis-comfort(law) in heaven; Not until "ye"(do err) "know the truth" is no lie at all, nor until thou wilt know it's by thy words thou art condemned(lawed). Thereby knowing, "ye" becomes "you"(made perfect), and "thou"(vain man) wilt know "grace is sufficient" for "thee"(not thou).

Does nobody else on earth get the "allegory"-ic more-all of "chanGe" in biblical verses, from ye to you, thou to thee, them to us?

What sort of "heaven" allows unlearned do greatly & alway err to add-versely affect & effect all therein with earthy devilish law law?

I'm not saying all of us carry these thoughts but some of us have this ingrained in our heads.

I mean this with all due respect to everyone who chooses to answer. It is an honest question because I know this is what each one thinks about the other. What do we gain from accusations and prejudices like these?

Once again, it's not my intention to hurt anyone's feelings.

Last weekend I went down to Cronin's Landing in Waltham to watch the annual boy scout fishing derby. Only the scoutmaster and one solitary scout was wearing his uniform. When I was a kid I remember being proud to show off all my merit badges, patches, etc. What happened in the intervening 40 years?
