No, religion is not necessary. Religion, the world over, is man's interpretation of god, of spirit. Spirituality, or just being a spiritually-mind person, is all that is needed.

Religion is not necessary to believe in God, but, as was shown in Noah's day, a connection with the true God is important to have. As noted in the Genesis account of the flood, only those 8 individuals survived the deluge. Why? Because they followed the directives of Jehovah "just so" and they preached to the violent world of that time to turn from their wrong course. Sadly, they didn't listen to Noah and perished. Even the Israelites were at one time God's chosen people. But sadly, they too, did not listen and follow Jehovah's righteous principles. In today's world, there are many so called Christian religions, but are they practicing what the standards of God really are ? Look at the wars fought in the name of religion. Look at the actions of the religious leaders when it comes to their conduct? What one has to do is search the Bible to see how God feels about matters and then seek and search out a religion, a true religion, that is following the correct course that God approves. You will know them by the love they show and by their actions. They will not be hypocritical. Happy searching!

I think religion is supposed to be the staircase to God. But what do we find? The result is most of times negative. It's not really religion, but tradition, which is inherited from your past generation and so on. Many don't even know and question their practice. They just imitate. That is not religion. Religion is concentration, the no-mind state... a mystical approach...

you are absolutely right; there is only one true religion, that is believing Jesus is the risen Savior. God's true Word is our true religion, anything past that is man-made religion.
I have to think about a couple of verses in Revelations that say:
Re 17:15
And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
Re 19:2
For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
Re 17:5
And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
Why do you think there are so many religions? Because man has conformed the religion to what he wants it to be.
So, to me, and I hope I am right, I don't do church anymore, I study the Bible to answer my questions, to get me closer to the Lord; I don't rely on men's words....for:
2Ti 4:3
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Religion is not necessary to believe, or realise God. it is said that God created the universe. Religion is just in one tiny planet in the vastness of the universe. religion is one of the many ways to realise God. Spirituality is the key to God. You can realise god without religion , but you cannot realise God without spirituality.

Its all about the Church and power. The Church wants you to believe that you HAVE to come to them in order to worship and/or be saved. Most people don't think about it, but a church IS a business. They need money and they sell salvation as their main income. They also sell weddings and other functions.
Many people were arrested and accused of heresy (some were even hanged) when they suggested that you do not have to go to church to believe in or worship god. (This was back during the times of the Roman Empire)
Its all a mind game and a power struggle.

Not "touchy" at all. We are all made in God's image. Perhaps that means we all have the ability to "reason." That ability elevates humanity to a higher level than other living creatures, but along with that gift comes an obligation to use our reasoning ability wisely and to make improvements in the world God gave us and to do whatever we can to improve living conditions for all others.
We have an obligation to use our gift of reasoning to the extent of its limits for the betterment of mankind.

I feel the same way. All organized religions are creations of man and not God. You can still be spiritual and not belong to a religion.

Don't make the mistake of confusing religion and churchism. Real religion is the relationship between the individual and God , church is the relationship with dogma.

No you don't have to have religion to believe in a god, but you might ask yourself why you believe in a god if you recognize religion is BS?
Are you simply too afraid to face the obvious reality that if religion is BS, probably what they've taught you about god is also BS?
