Yes, I'm being flippant. Does anyone remember the movie "Help!," where they fought homicidal religious fanatics from the East? What a terribly politically incorrect film! But sadly, a small band of savage fanatics today has made me remember it.

Actually, they say that's where George picked up a sitar and became interested in all things eastern.

Remember when Paul shrunk and was on the floor, dressed in a gum wrapper? And John wanted to get a new drummer after they chopped Ringo's finger off.

Did everyone smoke pot back in those days?

KAHILI!!!

Hey, we all need a bit of a laugh.

hamburger is on sale at Acme.. i am strictly a pasta gal.

is this a sign from the meatloafmonster that I need to make proper choices in the pastafarian way? Or should I just buy it and hope that the meatloaf monster doesnt find out?

Do not force your choice of meatloaf over my choice of pasta. This is a serious question.. do I give into the temptation to buy *gasp* HAMBURGER??

Hi - I'm thinking of giving up work next year and am looking for advice from those who have done it already. Would you please tell me the MAIN things I need to think about before making changes. I have already thought about:
Continuing casual work 1 day/week.
Finances-allow for costs in living, investment. Check my will.
Home - is it going to be suitable/safe/affordable within the next 10 years etc. Should I move?
Social life - keep/establish friendships. Take up a sport e.g.golf, community interests/voluntary work. Continue strong church/fellowship involvement.
Health - write out my routine Vitamin/min./herbs supplements in case I get sick or have an accident.
Review/pray about my goals/aims/values so I can make the most of the rest of my life. M.(female)

Your thoughts on this please.?!

I Honestly Don't Believe In Any Particular "God" or "Religion", BUT I DO Feel That There Is More To Life After Life. What Does This Make Me In The Eyes Of Spirituality? If I Would Have To Believe In A Power Bigger or Stronger Than My "Self", Then It Would Definitely Be The Power of NATURE. I Feel That I Need Some Enlightenment or Insight on MY View Of Life and Death.
Please Respond, Thanks !!!

I repeat this is in no way criticism or a hate message. I just read in New York Times http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/19/us/19dating.html?pagewanted=2&_r=1

that American Muslims are heavily raised with conservative Muslim values. I just wanted to ask about the experience of being raised in strict upbringing that contrasts so much with the American cultural setting. They aren't supposed to date, eat a certain meat, or I have seen many women still wear veils. The youths interviewed really believe in those values in the article. How were those teachings so ingrained into many of Muslim youths? I come from an Asian conservative family background and well I am really Americanized. I just wanted to ask what it took for such traditional thought to be passed on. Was it isolationism, strict control, etc. How did you feel? Describe life being raised as an American Born Muslim.

Why don't they believe in God, why are they like this? Who made them like this? Atheist, please answer, also. If you were once an Atheist, but now you do believe in God, what made you change your mind? Is this a religion? Anything would be helpful, because I never heard of atheist.

I mean this kind of thing:

"It was, like, seven o'clock, so I'm like, do you wanna, like, catch a movie, and he's like, are you kidding, it's, like, raining, didn't you, like, notice or anything, so we're, like, just sitting in this, like, bar, like, doing nothing, you know, like we're zombies or something, then suddenly he's like, I know, you wanna, like, get some, like dinner, like I know this neat, like, Italian place, like just round the corner? etc. etc.

What is "like" supposed to add in all these cases? Does it mean anything at all? And to make it even more bizarre, almost every statement is delivered as though it were a question.

I live in a city where we have lots of young American students or tourists, and they are more than welcome, but this trick of speech really grates on the ear. You can say: "Don't listen to it then", but they usually have very loud voices too so it's, like, you know, like hard to ignore. Where did this all start?

Why is it that today you have been overtaken in culture, power, and wealth by cultures in the West and East even though, centuries ago, you were the ones who were the strongest and most educated?

Is it because Muslims of today have become corrupted and must start following a more fundamentalist and dogmatic version of Islam?
Is it because false teachings create a backward and oppressed society?

It upset me to no end when I read in the paper today that a suicide bomber killed 4 Canadian soldiers as they were mingling with Afghan children today! What is wrong with these heartless, mindless individuals? Don't they have ANY sense of decency and respect for other's lives...especially their OWN CHILDREN? If this is what religion does to their minds, it is a horrendously scary type of brainwashing of which should be erradicated forever!

I know that tape worms are for real and little kids get them from eating dirt. I heard of an elderly woman who had a big worm living in her body and she could see it moving under her skin. Is that possible? How would it get there? How would you get it out?

Now, I'm an Atheist and have been for years. I think the bible is nothing but a load of fairy tales, Jesus never existed (he's just a rip off of Krishna), and both Heaven and Hell are fake (there is no afterlife whatsoever).

I just wanted to preface my question with that to show just how strong of an Atheist I am.

So, I've had dozens of Christians (not just here, but in real life) tell me that if I just asked tried asking that stupid, imaginary god of theirs into my life and prayed or whatever for a week (or two weeks, month, whatever. They said various lengths of time), my life would be better and I would notice this god of theirs making my life better. So, this would then prove to me that their god is real.

But what if I replaced "god" with "The Purple Unicorn of Osiris" and prayed to her for a month? If it made my life better, would you Christians then believe that she was real and start worshipping her?

Why don't you X-ians pray to her for a month and witness her greatness?

My family is thinking about moving to the Knoxville, TN area. I've heard that this area is in the "Bible belt." My family belongs to a religion other than Christianity. How will my family be treated by people in the area? Will they be accepting of our differing beliefs? If anyone of non-Christian beliefs has personal experience with this topic, please share your experiences with me.

Is this weird?

Look, this is not about bashing any religion, or all religion. My question, clarified, is this: Suppose the one belief that you do not believe is actually correct... How do you break free of your old ideas long enough to be educated?

There was a movie on about a week ago and there was a country wedding and they were dancing to a song that I think said "Do the bridal boogie" and my one year old son was laughing and all excited. I tried to find it on limewire under the name "Bridal Boogie" but I could not find it. Do you know the name of it. I want to play it for him and be silly and dance with him. I think it was a country song and I know nothing about country music.
