Hi, I think that you are agnostic like me. You might also be comfortable with Pantheism, they don't necessarily subscribe to a viewpoint of God but believe nature is spiritual. I'll give you a link. As for the afterlife thing, I have given it much thought and I don't think there is a for sure answer that we can know. I think self-delusion to comfort yourself is not the way to go. If you feel that there is something maybe that is your answer. I have found comfort in confronting my notions of death. If there is not something more than I now realize that it really won't matter since I will no longer have awareness. I won't feel fear or unhappiness. Think about before you were born. What did you feel? If there is something, which I also entertain, then it will be a grand adventure to find out when the time comes. I don't believe there is a hell for good people who just aren't religion followers. I can't accept that if there is a God they would be like that.

Yes, there is. Been there, came back, and I can assure you that you do not die when your body does, just change status.
As to the not believing in anything in particular...you could get a better handle on that, because I can also guarantee you that there is a God, as well as gods, and that the choice you make will affect where you spend eternity. No matter how you slice it.
My suggestion would be to take a stand, even if it's wrong. This failure to commit is not good for your soul, although it probably won't do your body much good, either. We were built to believe in something greater than ourselves, and being human, we're more comfortable when we give it a name.
I will not try to proselytize you, but let me suggest that you make a wide study of the available religions, looking carefully not only at what they are purported to teach, but how their adherents live their lives--is it good for them? Is it good for those around them? Does it give them peace? How about others? And all like that sort of thing.
When and only when you have studied it all--hopefully you'll have the time to do a fairly good job--then decide on a religion and get into it. Even if you prove to be wrong, at least you will have made a choice, and God can then move you to where He wants you to be.
I have, like you, been at a loss and hunted around, and I can tell you that if you don't look, you aren't going to find, either.
Will be praying for you.

Death is a natural part of life as we have often heard. It may help to know that a life well lived, is enough for anyone and you will be in the same position as every single human who came before you.
There is nothing to fear and don't waste time with religions who make their money from selling you explanations about life after death.
It is good that nature kills old life to make way for new life. If there is more, then make sure you are in the habit of living this life so you don't find yourself wasting your next life if this occurs when you expire.
Some people spend the whole of their existence waiting for life to begin when they are dead. Does that course of action sound reasonable to you?

Biblicly, there are two types of afterlifes. The Resurrection of those chosen to serve for 1000 years in, and the resurrection of those who will have everlasting life on Earth, and later on the other planets in the universe. Christ demonstrated the two types, in that he asked his father to raise Lazarus from the dead to a human form of life on earth, while in his own case, he was raised as a spiritual form for service in Heaven, at his father's side.
The problem you run into is that most of today's religion only teach what the pagan religions taught, that everyone goes to some ethereal existence in heaven, but God didn't create man to live in Heaven. He was created to have everlasting (not immortal) life on Earth. No Bible says that the Soul is immortal, but instead dies with the body. The spirit of life we share with the lower form animals, with neither being greater than the other.
Consider what you can do with everlasting life. No aging, no sickness, and the full use of your mental capabilities. Yes, you can still die from severe injury, just as Jesus did.

Thank you for the good question. Listen, I believe in fairness, and honesty and basic "rightness". One day, I asked myself, "Wouldn't God be the epitome of every ideal and perfect in every way?" (Maybe I will ask that on this site one day)
Is there more after this life? I do not want to go into a raving dialogue so I will try to remain brief. Yes. I believe that many of our core beliefs are limitted by our individual abilities to understand and and then, to communicate this understanding effectively (without personal agendas added). I believe that death is not "nothingness". I also believe that all will awaken from their "sleep" to be "judged". Keep in mind I also believe that our ideas of sin and judgement are incorrect. We are not even capable of being good judges of our own sin, which is why we delight in judging others.
You wrote about the Power of Nature. It is written, "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." Yes, there is great tranquility, power and vibrance of life in nature but do not worship these. Worship instead the One that created these. This "grand designer" or "Father" or "God" deserves praise and worship and attention...
I once read (I can't remember where), "If there were a giant hand in the sky pointing to God, man would fall down and worship the hand."
Death? There is something inside of you defies the physical world. It cannot be examined in our modern day hospitals or quantified in our labs. What makes you, or anything else "be" alive? What moves us from "non-existence" to "full life?"
I do not believe that you are your thoughts. You are much more than that. Thoughts die.
You are not your body or your physical being. We can "make" a body breathe but we cannot make it live. Bodies die.
Everyone of our constructs are subjected to die.
But we live on.
Don't allow me or anyone else to dictate what you believe. Listen to that "voice" in the forest. It is written, "My sheep know the sound of my voice." There will be all kinds of responses to your question. BUT (Behold the Underlying Truth), is already inside of you, inside each of us equally. There will be no excuses.
"Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you."

After death, there are 2 specific resurrections that are spoken of in the Bible. The first, is of the little flock of Christian believers who will rule in heaven with Christ. They have already begun to be resurrected and continue to be now as soon as their life has ended here. The second, is a resurrection of both righteous and unrighteous persons who (1). either died before Jesus was born (and therefore before the way to heaven had even been opened), (2). those who never had a chance to learn the truth about God or Jesus because of where they lived or circumstances in their lives and (3). those who knew the truth and lived in such a way that God considered them righteous in spite of their innate sinful nature. This will only take place after Armegeddon and will begin with the last ones who died back to the first ones. All those resurrected to earth will be greeted by those who have been resurrected before them and those who have survived Armegeddon.

yes, after life there is EVERYTHING. Otherwise we could not stand the trials and sufferings we go thru our lives. Someone came and died for us to live, not only now, but after NOW, that is, when we go for our last depart. Wouldn't be unfair if only a few people were happy in here and others weren't? Wouldn't be unfair that some people suceed whilst others don't? Wouldn't be unfair to live a miserable life and then that's the end of it? NO!! THere is more, so much more. We should enjoy life here, now is the time, to be continued after we depart.

in truth, what does it matter? If you believe in an afterlife and it gives you some comfort when facing the end there is nothing wrong with that. If you are right you will find out soon enough and if you are wrong, you will be gone and never know of your mistake. Believe what you like and don't concern yourself with where in the vast world of spirituality you belong.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there
I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle Autumn rain
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds
In circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there
I did not die
