HOLY COW. Ok sorry but yeah they are all over...
I was Catholic, Catholic/Protestant, Athiest, Agnostic, Buddist lol for a week, Apathetic, and now I am liberal Catholic.
I was Athiest for a variety of reasons, and I changed for a variety of reasons. They just don't believe in a supernatural power, and they deny the existance of any God. Some think that there is a bigger thing out there, called Agnostics. These people don't believe in organized religion, like Judaism or Christianity or Islam. The Athiests are usually very toerant and have a wide variety of beliefs. Some believe in stem cell research, some in abortion, some not. I have found that they are usually liberal or democrat and are very tolerant, but this is not true of all Atheists. They are all very different and are generally nice as a lot. There's a lot more but my fingers hurt so e-mail me if you want more thoughts/opinions. lol you can't really give facts on this....usually just opinions and such.

Atheists simply believe that there is no evidence for the existence of God. Atheists have always been around, & I'm surprised that you've never heard of them. Here's my take on why I don't believe God exists:
First, you have to define the term "God." The problem with most theists is that this term is a moving target.
In addition, because there is no evidence either for or against the existence of God, you cannot use deductive logic (a+b=c; therefore c-b=a). You can only reach a conclusion by inductive reasoning using the balance of evidence (90% of A is also B; C is B, so the chances are 90% that C is also A).
I will assert (and others may shoot this down) that the only RELEVANT definition of God states that he intervenes to circumvent natural laws.
If God circumvents natural laws, then it is impossible to understand natural laws. All scientific findings would have to include the stipulation, "it is also possible that these results are an act of God, a miracle, thereby making our research meaningless."
However, since we have been able to expand our knowledge of natural laws (evidenced by every appliance in your kitchen), the scientific method works in this discovery. And the likely conclusion is that God, at least the intervening kind, does not exist.
Additionally, if God is defined as all loving, all powerful, and all knowing, then it is impossible to explain suffering. Either God is not all loving (he acts sadistically), not all powerful (he cannot prevent suffering), or not all knowing (he created suffering by mistake because he didn't know the consequences of his actions).
If God is less than these and/or does not intervene in our existence, then he is either non-existent or irrelevant. The classic argument is that I cannot prove that a china teapot is orbiting the sun directly across from the earth's orbit. But while I cannot prove this is not true, the evidence against it is compelling.
The evidence against God is equally compelling, and while it is not possible to prove beyond any doubt, it makes more sense to live your life as if there were not God.
It is more compelling to me that humans have invented God to reflect the thoughts of the ruling powers in a particular time. Because humans are always looking for reasons, when none are found, it was the natural inclination to declare the cause to be "God" (or gods). As the faith grew, miracles and laws have been ascribed to this Divinity, and an orthodoxy grows up around it.
Successful religions over the long run also are accompanied by some level of economic well-being to the populace. Unsuccessful ones are seen as false because they don't lead to improved lives.
Now it seems unhelpful to believe in such superstition. The only matters that aid in our ongoing well being are work, location, health, sustenance, and pure, blind luck.
So no, I don't believe God exists. And you know what? It's okay if you do believe God exists.
Atheism is not an organized group, but only an absence of faith in a divine being. There's no atheist church, but there are some atheist groups who meet regularly in the bigger cities.

Oh dear... Atheism is not a religion, and nobody 'made' them like that. I was an Atheist, but now Pagan. They don't believe in God, because they see no 'proof' of his existence, and put more faith in science to answer the questions of existence.
Oh, and to the person that said they don't believe in Atheists, does that mean they don't exist?? They all just vanished into thin air? I was an Atheist and was never brought up to believe in God. I was brought up to think for myself, and chose the path I now lead by looking at various others.

There is no such thing as an atheist. I don't believe in atheists and God doesn't either. The ones on here perpetrate the label or title when they only are bitter former Christians who wanted God to be a Santa Claus. They only want to live in sin and not follow God's plan for as morality. They worship themselves. Atheism is a man made cult full of sinners. True unbelievers would not bother with religion nor it's followers.

Welcome.
I am an intelligent, thinking person. As such, I have been unable to adjust my palate to enjoy the taste of the crap that they feed you... I mean no offense. But I beleive, if you truly open your MIND and begin to question all the things that do not make sense in your beleif system, you too will change your mind and see that you are being toyed with, made to beleive in something unreal. If your God is truly the only one true God, why are there so many denominations of Christianity to begin with? And which one is right? More than likely, none of them are right - this is simple deductive thinking....you cannot have four right beleifs, so then none of them can be the "right" one...they are all wrong.
You'll be hard pressed to find Atheists who have converted back to religion. There area few - Ask a Christian, as this is the only "proof" that they can cite that their God might be real. But it still proves nothing.

An atheist doesn't believe in anything, not a god or a devil. I have found alot of teenagers are choosing this as their "spiritual" decision. It is not a religion, since the believers don't believe in anything LOL I believe people choose this because there is no proof in a "higher power" so it is easier to say there is nothing then to find faith.

You have never heard of atheists? There are millions of atheists in America. Atheists do not believe in god because they take the position that if something cannot be proven to be true by a preponderance of evidence then it is illogical to believe in it. Religion/gods/deities/faith are all illogical and self-contradictory.
Atheists deny all gods, it is an intellectual position, not a religion. For the same reasons you deny the god-ship of Zeus, Osiris, or Mithra is the same reason they deny the Judeo-Xian version of god.

An Atheist doesn't believe in a God or Gods. Usually religion is what turns them to Atheism. This isn't a religion since it isn't organized with a "bible" and there aren't any meeting places.

You concept Paul replaced into mendacity whilst he stated that people who're of unbelief have been regulation breakers by being fornicators, homosexuals, lesbians and loose willed and so on? They have been doing a similar component they did for the time of the time of Jesus. no longer something has replaced with unbelievers. in case you instructed there mom to close up they're going to say it is disrespectful. yet purely simply by fact a believer makes use of a spiritual e book to show them why disrespecting a mom is incorrect. They immediately have a difficulty. you are able to not attain any sort of enlightenment interior the US or England simply by fact human beings prefer to do despite they like. It reasons you to sin even inspite of the incontrovertible fact which you attempt your superb to no longer be like them or of the secular international.

They don't believe in God because there is not proof of God and the things attributed to God (raising the dead, water to wine, etc.) are often illogical and counter intuitive.
It is not a religion per se, but it is a system of belief (or lack thereof).
They are generally very intelligent people who are very moral, using their own judgements of right and wrong rather than those found in a holy book of some sort.
Hope this helps.
