I mean, the Geneva Conentions say "outrages upon personal dignity, in particular, humiliating and degrading treatment", but what does that really mean?

If I wanted to dress a prisoner in a clown suit, so what, right? Or dress a Jew in a pig suit, that's fine, right? Or have a Muslim stand on a box with wires touching his genitals and tell him if he steps off he will be electrocuted to death? Big deal.

I mean, what is "peronal dignity" anyway? What is "“cruel, inhumane and degrading"? Surely we have to have all of this clearly defined so we know when we are torturing someone, we are doing it correctly.

And really, "waterboarding"? It sounds like something you would do on a Carnival Fun Ship. It can't be that bad.

gambling is a sin, yet they go to bingo, play lottery, go to the casinos, and play online games.? the dictionary defines gambling as a game of chance...so....is it wrong for the "hypochristians" to say that gambling is a sin, but it's ok if they do it, because it is for "entertainment"?

If Jesus, our Christ and savoir, traveled through time to play in a rock band (who wouldn't), what instrument would he play? Would he play a guitar shaped like a harp or would he use his halo as a tamborine? A bass or a hamonica?

OK I knew that there are some limitations in Japanese; e.g., touyou kanji, the general limitation of kanji used in newspapers and magazines... and kyouiku kanji the ones prescribed in education... what numbers are these? And, I have no idea of any limitations in Chinese and I believe that Koreans also use the ideographs?

We all know who ultimately got the blame for them. But how did they actually start? Do you think your answer is biased? Is there another possibility?

I've heard a lot of different things, but as a whole it seems to me that the Church was defending Christian lands at first. That it was in fact the Moorish invaders that started the hostilities. I can't seem to get a strait historical account though. Anyone have any thoughts?

The character that describes God as a "holy other" or "holy purity" or "holy holy holy" "the superlative of ultimate holiness. Fear can cause us to explain a mystery, that is something we don't know. However holiness, even set apart is only one aspect of biblical holiness, the other aspect is a God who is unknowable, infinite, incomprehensible. The concept of holiness shows that God is immutable, unchangable. So how did these concepts come about, in the biblical record, if god is only a creature of our own fears?

What is peoples opinion of the comments of the Archbishop's statement that childhood has been killed by computer games, advertising and junk food? Also, what do YOU think should be done about it.
For me, the problem is a collapse in the teaching and upholding of traditional Biblical moral teaching. This is primarilly due to the secularisation and stigma that has been attached to Christian belief, and the secularisation of schools- many schools including the one I went to here in Hartlepool did teach about world religions, but little about the religion I now love, Christianity. What I learnt about this country's faith I learnt from religious texts (in Latin), the Bible and the internet.
That and a capitalist rather than a socialist approach to politics means that childhood in this country is history. This doesn't occur in many other European countries, so why here?
Opinions please, on my ideas and the speech made by Dr Rowan Williams.

I fear I am becoming a bit of a recluse. I hate to leave the house and I won't if there's any way I can aviod it. I work just a few minutes from my home and where my kids go to school. If it weren't for work and grocery shopping, I'd never leave the house. People are just so mean these days. I hate that this is affecting my kids because I usually keep them in the house with me. Just being around people sometimes makes me physically ill. I guess maybe I'm losing it. Does anyone ever feel this way?

Mahomet words telling about spreading faith by sword sounds more like telling about sword as tongue. Tongue as symbol of speech filled with Wisdom of God. It was mentioned the same way in Bible an other manuscripts of those times. Sword as tongue telling words able to summon someone to be follower of religion devoted to God. Sword as tongue telling words able to juge true evil. Sword as tongue telling words able to heal or kill soul. Sword as tongue telling words how to reveal real meaning of Gods Messege. However it don’t reject the other meaning of Mahomets words. Sword made of steal weared by true blessed Gods warriors can be used to protect innocents, but the mean of protection innocents is unfortunetly wrongly understand in last times, at least as I see it this way. So we would have two messeges in one sentence. Simple divine into evil and good can make blind for truth. Evil can take disguise and lead us straight to Hell. Evil atacks more violently from inside than from outside.

Last year was my daughter's first Christmas (she is my first child) and although we don't give gifts, a lot of my aunts and cousins bought her a little something. This year there are 4 new babies...am I expected to give them something now that I have a child???
