What makes this situation different from the story of Jesus? Both of these guys claimed to be the messiah. Both had many followers. Both died for what they believed. And if you look at it really hard, the followers of Koresh died with him, for what he believed and they believed. Who says he was not the new Messiah? If he did come back after 3 days or so who would have been there to see it. All of his followers are dead.
I am not saying he was the new Messiah, just that, when you get down to it, Jesus and Koresh were basically in the same boat
Just because someone wrote down the story of Jesus and not Koresh that doesnt make it true

The Branch Davidians were wrong, it was a cult, but Janet Reno is a million times more liablel for that fiasco than anyone else, including David Koresh. All those people burned to death because of her, and a few bad FBI agents. David Koresh was constantly going to town, they could have taken him out any time. Reno just wanted to look "effective". One of the biggest blunders ever. I didn't watch the program, but I watched it all when it was going on. All those children burned to a crisp. Awful.

Koresh has this all planned. He prophesied about the government coming to take them all away, but no one made the connection about WHY the gov was baited to do so. Koresh KNEW the accumulation of fire arms and weaponry would draw questions from ATF. This is WHAT ATF is supposed to do. His prophecies were in relation to what HE KNEW was going to happen because HE was making it happen and calling it fulfillment of prophesy! I can do that....with a few stop signs and a couple of red lights...I predict the law will chase after me also.
At no time did Koresh intend for the core people to come out of that alive. I suspect he taught them abour resurrection and suggested they would resurrect no matter what they suffered.
Also, he had them convinced he was in DIRECT contact with God. Let's be clear about what DIRECT means...not getting ideas from the Bible and prophesying about what was supposed to happen, which is indirect through the word, but he also thought God was speaking DIRECTLY to him.
Also, take notice of the word "branch." Jesus proclaimed he was the "root and stem of Jesse" which was King David's father. How can you be both the root and the branch? Root comes before the branch..yet Jesus lived 14 generations between King David and Himself. Jesus explained it that He was the Root of Jesse SPIRITUALLY and the branch or descendant of King David, physically.
David Koresh proclaimed he was the STEM or branch of David, which would be the direct descendant of Jesus and King David, through the tribe of Judah which was the royal tribe of Israel.
Koresh took everything he knew about Revelation and created mystery about himself and his sealed his relationship with these people who were TRUE believers in Koresh. They WORSHIPPED Koresh and fit right into the fantasy. They all knew they were going to die and were OK with it. This is what they wanted.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT to WILCHY above me...........
Jesus came with real power and real miracles, and He resurrected from the dead and appeared to witnesses! His precepts actually work. Koresh brought death and destruction and is still "ASH" somewhere in the dirt. Jesus is alive and well and living in the Heavenly REALM. Jesus answers prayers and gives help....DAVID KORESH does NOT.

If it's the same show I saw, it was about how the whole thing took place and how the FBI/government screwed up.
It seems to me there were a compound full of wackos. The FBI had no plans to really try and solve anything. It looked like they just wanted to get ride of the cult and the compound.

I didn't see the show, but I remember the incident.
It frightens me to think that is what religion leads some people to do. They honestly believed in their leaders.
