How about this... NOBODY say the word. Then it won't be a problem. As a black woman with sense, I can tell you that I don't even like it when black people use the word. So, I damn sure don't want to hear a white person calling anyone a n i g g e r. Just don't use it... period. And this is not even a question on equality. No one called white people n i g g e rs back in the day. So, don't expect for it to be equal now. Again I say... don't use it. Worry about what you are doing and not what everyone else around you is doing. You can't control everyone, you can control yourself.

Being that it was obviously used in a racist way to demean a whole race of people, and it still has a lot of weight behind it... why would you even want to use the word? Just because some black people call each other n i g g a, you feel that it should be okay for you to say it? That sounds more racist to me than anything else. Its like you're dying to call black people n i g g e r s, and you are using the ignorance of some black people to justify it. Keep it real... if you want to say it... say it. But, don't be afraid to deal with the reprocussions.

You all make it seem like every black person on the planet says the"n" word and I don't say it, so stop generalizing. I agree that it's wrong for anyone to use the word, but honestly I've seen the word used on Yahoo Answers by white people mostly, an example would be this question. Also, you're like the hundred millionth person to ask this question.

This will make it easier to take, just think about what the word ****** means, lazy, ignorant, waste of space that the world would be better off without. Next time you hear two people calling each other that just insert that meaning and look at the two people, I think you will find that the shoe fits.

The meanings behind it are different, I think. Just like as a woman, I can go out with "the girls," meaning my other friends who are grown women, but if a male executive refers to me and other secretaries as "girls," I rankle. I'm being informal; he's being condescending.

But last week, I explained to a black boy whom I tutor (I'm white) that my people used it a lot, and it wasn't a complement, and I can't stand for him and other kids to use that word for themselves and each other. I told him it was as bad as when I first tutored him and he was calling himself stupid. He can't use that word to describe himself around me, either.

I've thought of that. Black people go crazy when you call them the n word, but they can call each other the n word. Its hypocrisy! But they are a minority and we (white people) can do nothing about it but listen and get frustrated! There is no hope.
And "yes" to answer the question!

It is racist to call anybody ******. People who do so deserve utmost contempt.

Apparently it is ok for black people to call each other the "n" word, it's just not ok for any body else to do it. The old double standard, which goes along with the reverse-racism epidemic.

bcuz they're white. personally it stupid for blacks to say it to each other then get offended when someone calls them that. it's like a black person calling a hispanic person a wet back and laughing, but when the hispanic person calls them a ni gger, they get all pissed off? why?
