The character that describes God as a "holy other" or "holy purity" or "holy holy holy" "the superlative of ultimate holiness. Fear can cause us to explain a mystery, that is something we don't know. However holiness, even set apart is only one aspect of biblical holiness, the other aspect is a God who is unknowable, infinite, incomprehensible. The concept of holiness shows that God is immutable, unchangable. So how did these concepts come about, in the biblical record, if god is only a creature of our own fears?

Religions are man-made and there are almost as many religions as there are men.

Relationship with the holy God is of the awesome, holy, uncreated Creator.

Good question. Thank you for asking it. I look forward to seeing the answers.

You can't simply make up your own definition of "holiness" and tout it as proof of god. You wont find any of the words you used to describe what you think holiness is (unknowable, infinite, incomprehensible, immutable, unchangeable) in its actual definition. Just another example of why you can't have a logical discussion with a theist.

If you want to know why god is "unknowable, infinite, incomprehensible, immutable, unchangeable" that's simple. The people in charge made him that way, simply so they didn't have to explain. If god was any other way but "unknowable", then god would have to make sense. People know that god doesn't make sense, so he becomes "unknowable" and "incomprehensible" in order to protect the integrity of religion.

Religions did not develop fro Man's fears, they developed from man taking advantage of people's beliefs and sometimes ignorance. The concept of god comes due to man's need to explain things we canot comprehend. the concept of fearing god comes from upper classes in ancient times having a need to make profit and keep people under check. It creates itself by a process of quid per quo, or something for something in exchange. If you are bad you will burn in hell, but wait, if you give us 10% of your wages (or crops at the time) god will see you ith better eyes and forget the bad stuff you did with the "good" stuff you are doing by giving us money. In the old days it was almost as bad as now a days paying th mob or a gang to "protect" your buissness.
God's hollyness and all knowing image comes together with the concept of faith, which in catholic and some christian traditions is believing without questioning. I dont think god is a creation of our own fears but it is acreation to feel better about those things we dont understand.
Do I believei n god? you might ask by now, I do, it works for me. Do I believe he sent his son to earth to teach us about loving one another? you bet, do I believe Jesus came here to create a church with a bible and goign to hell if you did not go to church on sunday? No way. If he wanted a book written he would have done so himself, after all he is to some the son of god. It is funny you never hear of the Gospel accrding to Jesus do you? It is all written by folks that by their own social status and need for change (an actual revolution) made the words into a social movement almost 50 years after Jesus passed away. Ok enough with my rambling.
