I fear I am becoming a bit of a recluse. I hate to leave the house and I won't if there's any way I can aviod it. I work just a few minutes from my home and where my kids go to school. If it weren't for work and grocery shopping, I'd never leave the house. People are just so mean these days. I hate that this is affecting my kids because I usually keep them in the house with me. Just being around people sometimes makes me physically ill. I guess maybe I'm losing it. Does anyone ever feel this way?

I feel that way, too. Not to the extent as you have gone, but I certainly understand. I have told family and friends that I would like to persue online endeavors, and continue to write, that way I can be home all the time. I am naturally a homebody and maybe thats what you are. Home is serene for you, another extension of yourself whereas the world is full of cruel people, and folks who don't understand you. I think I'm just lazy sometimes:) My advice: Don't keep your children in bondage with you, let them explore and come to their own decisions about "outside life"

DITTO:

What you're describing is something called "agoraphobia", and it can be treated easily. Make sure you don't fall into this more than you already are. You owe it to yourself and your family to be a member of society. Go to your doctor and/or therapist and explain how you feel. Pick yourself up and go get the help you need to get through this. Don't let it continue

Of course not, I love going out, except that sometimes very annoying and rude kids hang out right outside my house and I cannot walk past them without a rude gesture or comment, thats when I wonder why I left the house at all.
