That modern day religions are based on believable facts?

Are they better than old religions like the ones the ancient Greeks and Romans had?

Did every person that ever lived before Jebus/Allah/Whatever go to a supposed bad place like hell?

Do the majority of people in the world go to hell since there is no one religion that dominates the entire world? Would such a loving and understanding god let something like this happen?

Was religion initially created to explain the things people could not explain before technologies came along?

Are the Thundercats cool?

If I create a world cool enough to have people want to experience it after I die, would that make me a god? Are we learning how to create now, so we can build universes later?

we all believe or not believe in something. so many choices are available when choosing your personal belief system. aethiest, agnostic, buddhist, christian, jewish, pagan, other(so many to list) - which are you and why does it inspire you to believe and live your life according to the teachings of your chosen faith? does it mirror your personal philosophies and beliefs? does your belief invoke you to be happy?

i would like to convey a big thank you to all that cared enough to answer (or at least get 2 quick points).
please be totally yourself (you know that awesome person you keep hidden from the world? let them speak their mind) there are no wrong answers here. just lots of real people sharing fresh thoughts and ideas on a heavy subject.

who knows, i may have missed something along the way.

happy thoughts of love, peace and light to the universe!

Once and for all I am calling out god. If you exist, you will answer this question.

For all those non-thinkers out there - god will never respond - why?
Because god is lazy? - No. Because god doesn't concern godself with me and my question? - No.

It is because - get this... GOD DOESN'T EXIST!!!

And if you're human and answer this pretending to be god I will know because if god answered, god would answer in such a way, if god existed, that I would have to become a believer. So unless you are god and can sway me, don't go trying to. Also if you believe in god and impersonate god then you would consider that blasphemy and would think god would punish you for pretending to be god.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

When I suggested the Christian Olympics, I said that it would be "Just like the Special Olympics, but without the athleticism"

TJMiller responded:

"So if you're a Christian, you can't be athletic? I have a degree in Health and Physical Education with a minor in Sports Medicine. I ran Cross Country and Track at the Indiana University. I play basketball better than most of the men I know. I am a volleyball player and a softball player - still - at age 43. I love to race my GT Mountain Bike on some of the most difficult courses in the area and I win often. Oh - and I'm a Christian. Most of the people who compete in the REAL Olympics believe in God."

I sincerely apologize. The comment about the athleticism was overboard.

Let me correct the above statement:

The Christian Olympics would be exactly like the Special Olympics.

Please accept my apology?

I mean, i see that Cindy Crawford has now asked a question, but if they really wanted to find a good answer to their questions, they would first look at the input coming from other answers to similar questions. I believe it is just a maketing scheme to get more people on Yahoo Answers. Come on people. Do you really think Cindy Crawford will look at most of her responses?

It was the first day of school and the P.A. announcement said to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. I stood up and the teacher said to all, "Stand if you want to." No other students stood up and the teacher sat down while I said the pledge alone. It was... wierd.

Please ignore the response from Julia Encarnacion - what she failed to mention is that I also corrected myself and provided her with four other examples she WASNT able to explain her way around, and this upset her.
Also, I apologize for my lame posting earlier about the Holy Spirit "filling me." A moment of weakness for a laugh. I apologize for any offense taken at that posting.....just having fun people....

THANKS EVERYONE!

Hear now the words of the witches,
The secrets we hid in the night,
When dark was our destiny’s pathway,
That now we bring forth into light.

Mysterious water and fire,
The earth and the wide-ranging air,
By hidden quintessence we know them,
And will and keep silent and dare.

The birth and rebirth of all nature,
The passing of winter and spring,
We share with the life universal,
Rejoice in the magical ring.

Four times in the year the Great Sabbat
Returns, and witches are seen
At Lammas, and Candlemas dancing,
On May Eve and old Hallowe’en.

When day-time and night-time are equal,
When the sun is at greatest and least,
The four Lesser Sabbats are summoned,
Again witches gather in feast.

Thirteen silver moons in a year are,
Thirteen is the coven's array.
Thirteen times as Esbat make merry,
For each golden year and a day.

The power was passed down the ages,
Each time between woman and man,
Each century unto the other,
Ere time and the ages began.

When drawn is the magical circle,
By sword or athame or power,
Its compass between the two worlds lie,
In Land of the Shades for that hour.

This world has no right then to know it,
And world beyond will tell naught,
The oldest of Gods are invoked there,
The Great Work of magic is wrought.

For two are the mystical pillars,
That stand to at the gate of the shrine,
And two are the powers of nature,
The forms and the forces divine.

The dark and the light in succession,
The opposites each unto each,
Shown forth as a God and a Goddess,
Of this did our ancestors teach.

By night he’s the wild wind’s rider,
The Horn’d One, the Lord of the shades,
By day he’s the King of the Woodlands,
The dweller in green forest glades.

She is youthful or old as she pleases,

She sails the torn clouds in her barque,

The bright silver lady of midnight,

The crone who weaves spells in the dark.

The master and mistress of magic,
They dwell in the deeps of the mind,
Immortal and ever-renewing,
With power to free or to bind.

So drink the good wine to the Old Gods,
And dance and make love in their praise,
Til Elphame's fair land shall receive us,
In peace at the end of our days.

An Do What You Will be the challenge,
So be it in Love that harms none,
For this is the only commandment,
By Magick of old, be it done.

Eight words the Witches’ Creed fulfill:

If it harms none, do what you will.

I don't want to offend anyone with the question I just asked it out of curiosity because my Grandma was getting mad at this interview with Welsey Snipes because he had said that he doesn't like to date Black women because they are too materialistic. But I'm not sure the article was completely factual.
