When I suggested the Christian Olympics, I said that it would be "Just like the Special Olympics, but without the athleticism"

TJMiller responded:

"So if you're a Christian, you can't be athletic? I have a degree in Health and Physical Education with a minor in Sports Medicine. I ran Cross Country and Track at the Indiana University. I play basketball better than most of the men I know. I am a volleyball player and a softball player - still - at age 43. I love to race my GT Mountain Bike on some of the most difficult courses in the area and I win often. Oh - and I'm a Christian. Most of the people who compete in the REAL Olympics believe in God."

I sincerely apologize. The comment about the athleticism was overboard.

Let me correct the above statement:

The Christian Olympics would be exactly like the Special Olympics.

Please accept my apology?

If I say everyone in room belives in God, even if I am correct, not a single one need be a Christian. I don't get this part of TJ's response. But, as unlikely as it seems, perhaps most Olympic athletes are indeed Christian. They would have the easiest time gettng past the ethics of steroid and EPO use; just ask for forgiveness. I also wonder from TJ's "REAL Olympics" comment if he considers the Special Olympics to be fake? Or is Christian elitist redundant?

I take offense to this devlsadvoct.

My sister was in the Special Olympics. I feel that this comparison unfair to those who were in the Special Olympics, they deserve better than to be compared to Christians.

:)

Something tells me I'll get a lot of hate mail for this one.

Actually on a serious note, I really do have a problem with what TJMiller said.

"Most of the people who compete in the REAL Olympics.."

Wtf does that mean? I'm sure some of the special need kids I saw at my sisters track meet would kick his behind in a race.

You're on a role today. I also coach Special Olympic athletes. They are wonderful athletes and human beings and shouldn't be mocked by anyone. I have long distance runners who could outrun most "normal" runners. Try again. This time, forget insulting anyone. Accept people for who they are instead of mocking the beliefs of others.

Something tells me he isn't going to like your apology much.

Actually most of the people who competed in the REAL Olympics worshiped the ancient Greek Gods. And competed in the nude at that.

There are so many touchy people... Life would be boring without them.

Well, you may be ironico-sarcastico-funny, but it seems you're as touchy as those you laugh at...

I told you: try self-irony for a change. Real self-irony.

It's OK, you've apologised and you've done the right thing.
Now relax, you aren't doing anything unethical.
